I guess I irritate most of you, because you simply don't want to consider what it is that I have to say. PERIOD. Absolutely no give-and-take. Whatever. Like I've said before, in reality, we would likely agree, most of the time.
And as guilty that I may be in "stirring it up" around here, it takes two to tango, and many of you have behaved equally as abrasive.
TBO, I do respect you, and you have enlightened me along this thread. We don't always agree, but I have taken some of what you've had to offer to heart. Thanks for taking the time to post your interesting and relevant viewpoints.
DrBombay, I just don't understand you at all. From the get-go, you have spewed your venom towards me like no other. This absolutely leaves me disturbed, and dumbfounded. In the words of the great tommyo— "LIGHTEN UP". (forthcoming, DrB posts a note that reads: "fuck you cunthat").

I think we're all obviously entitled to our own opinions, however divergent they are from one another. I also think it's really easy, given the nature of who we are as QBNrs, to throw disparaging comments at each other (CUNT, asshat, fucktard, Subhuman fuckwit, etc.).
These two seem to clash in disastrous ways with this thread in particular. Some of us can reach back, scratch our ass and get along. Others find it difficult to let comments go without resorting to said commentary. I guess I'm playing a Rodney King here, but I'm also realist enough to know getting along just isn't possible all the time.

Well, you know, I was just listening to a real interesting podcast this morning on my way to work that was an interview with both the most recently past presidents of Chile and Italy, and it was an interesting listen. But one of them said something, to which I'll attempt to paraphrase,
"You know, politics is now back. It is back globally and it is back in America. It was away for awhile, one, because of the triumph of the market and the rise of the consumer and most recently because of the shutting down of political discourse in light of the terrorist threat. But now, our societies are failing, and primarily because of the failures in the market, and governments must now make very big decisions and we can no longer sit back and be consumers. The situation is now forcing us once again to be citizens and take an interest in the affairs of our nations."
And I just said, wow, that's pretty spot on. And as heated as things DID get here in the US during the Bush administration, I think it is true we were all kind of lulled asleep for exactly the two reasons this guy mentioned. And things will probably be far more politically vitrolic now, essentially because now it DOES really matter. And I also think it's also very very dangerous, very easy to let emotions get the better of you (raises hand) because you do feel like now, shit DOES matter, and we CAN do something about it. Hopefully. Hence the rise of this populist wave - from both the left and right. It's really positive but really, really dangerous...interesting times...
