LIVE Stream: Hillary Clinton Concession Speech After Defeat by Donald Trump in 2016 Election 11/9/16

And i'm sticking to my point that the fear of Islamists and the fear of The Invisible Enemy is a reason why many Americans voted Trump. They think the Republicans will clean it all up. Surprise surprise!
- Who will they blame when/if he can't and doesn't? Obama, Hillary, Giuliani or Gingrich? The RNC, the media, Scott Baio? The Senate, the House?monospaced
- Clearly Scott Baio.ETM
- @Bennn, it's called appeal to emotion - a logical fallacy.dorf

We can close this thread now and bring back the Trump thread.
Thanks.

I'm surprised and fascinated with how many children I've heard are really upset about the results, children as young as 6-7 years old are waking up and freaking out. The next generation won't forget this.
- I hate kids that age pretending they are about politics. Just repeating their parents. Bugs me as much as kids getting a coffee at starbucks. Little shits.rosem
- they care*rosem
- It's not so much the politics they're reacting to. It's that Trump embodies a lot of the characteristics that they were told aren't those of a respected adult.monospaced
- I wasn't trolling when I asked for Cygnus btwernexbcn
- you know he's upset, and you want him to express it ... that's what you were doing when you asked, no?monospaced
- why the downvotes? am I not allowed to be fascinated and surprised by this?monospaced
- rosem. do you have children?kona
- I hope not.monospaced
- of course he/she doesn't. The reason I ask is because you have a fundamental misunderstanding of at what age a child can think on their own.kona
- My 7 year old formed an opinion of Trump long before I told him mine. Same with my 3 year old. BOTH of them knew him to be a bad man before I said a single wordkona
- @kona, that's what fascinates memonospaced
- My kids too...8 & 6. Mainly seeing the political commercials where he's insulting disabled people and putting down others.aslip
- I think that was the one that got my son too. The look on his face was of complete disgust.kona
- My kids are 16 and 13. They've been told to respect other people's viewpoints at home and at school for all of those years, and they knew he was a conman theallthethings
- first they saw him. "He said that???!" was a common reaction. I was touched last night, actually, when my 13-yr-old daughter put her hand on my shoulder to tellallthethings
- me she was sorry. I told her with the Supreme Court she's gonna be dealing with this shit for the next 40 years, and I'll be dead by then.allthethings
- I told her I was sorry for her. She shouldn't be sorry for me. My fucking generation did this. Again.allthethings

Chunk explains that clinton should have appeared on TYT- Facism is totalitarianism which is where the left were headingDillinger
- They even want to tell you what to wear at Halloween. Trump doesn't give a fuck if want to look like pocahontasDillinger
- Dude, that's not totalitarianism. That's reminding people to be aware of offending others, that there are other viewpoints besides one's own.allthethings
- I suspect this is lost on the other 50% of the country.allthethings
- they do a little more than, remind.Gnash

"There is a cult of ignorance in the US, and it has always been so. The tradition of anti-intellectualism has been a constant trend, which has made its way into our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that my ignorance is as good as your knowledge. "- Isaac Asimov
- Agreed look at the ignorance that thought obamacare would somehow control healthcare costs or make it more affordable********
- That's the way it was sold because they assumed the states would expand Medicare, which would have lowered costs for most people. The reason it's as fucked upallthethings
- as it is is because GOP states refused to play ball. Which I'm going to remember every time a Republican says we all need to work with the new administration.allthethings
- expanding medicare increases costs while helping few. even if worked exactly as planned it would have rationing as only cost control********
- no market forces just boards dicating prices, and if not profitable hospitals quitting. boards cant decide what serves ppl like markets can********
- thx to gov incentives and involvement they have completely removed the consumer from the equation and removed regular market forces********
- ppl know the market forces will drive prices down, but the fear of what ifs about not being able to afford care fucks everyone harder, & choose irrational plans********

You can't just blame Trump voters...Democrats need to rethink what they stand for and why they failed in this election.
Going back to the time of Bill Clinton they basically made a deal where they coopted right-leaning economic policies along with social liberalism. That approach worked in terms of gaining corporate support for the Democratic party but it has obviously failed to deliver for the middle class especially post 2008.
It was weird to watch Bloomberg news the other day discussing the election, the commentators were obviously all Clinton people. So Democrats managed to assimilate Wall Street bankers into their coalition but completely lost the working class.
If people don't see any upside in terms of policies that will materially help them, they will vote for the far right as has been proven many times in different countries.
- yup********
- Wall street will love trump. It cost them tons to keep hrc on side, trump will do it for freeGnash
- ^ at least he tried to make it affordable - the US healthcare system is the joke of the world.fadein11

The misogyny apocalypse:
"It was unimaginable that America would self-destruct rather than elect a female president. But that's what happened"- SALON figured it outGnash
- actually it's also white women who handed it to trumpcannonball1978
- nope, just white men...Gnash
- "It’s been exhaustively established that the majority of white men in this country are consumed with resentment...Gnash
- .... at being expected to treat women and racial minorities as equals"Gnash
- ha logic. white man + vote for trump = racist/womenhater. women minority + vote for trump = ?********
- it's a little more than false logicmonospaced
- but it's been exhaustively establishedGnash
- an association has been established, but the author seems to only focus on ones that support his thesis. she even mentions others but shrugs them off********
- personally i read this as vacuum filling created content, that has the reasoning skills of a 5th grader with expanded vocabulary. filter tags says plenty********
