I'm no republitard but liberals fucked this place up
- Yup. I think liberals’ intentions are good but we aren’t really helping people. Liberal policies will not solve this problem, ever.nb
- the origins are far older and nuanced than just politics, good ol' capitalistic greed from banks and land owners, I fearwhatthefunk
- https://faithinactio…whatthefunk
- Fact is, nobody from any side has a solution to homelessness like this, at this scale. Not one they want to stomach.monospaced
- But as long as there are a few BILLIONAIRES out there just hoarding money we can be sure there won’t be a solution.monospaced
- Billionaires arent the problem. Money doesn’t solve drug addiction. You have to start by separating addicts from their drugs.nb
- Harm reduction needs to be refocused toward abstinence. Current harm reduction policies aren’t terrible, but they aren’t even trying to solve the problem.nb
- this documentary segment was pretty good I gotta say.sarahfailin
- do these issues and scenes exist in socialist countries? Cuba, Vietnam, China, even light ones like in Scandinavia?_niko
- not denying there are terrible sections of the city, but it is still as beautiful as ever.capn_ron
- Neo-liberalism fucked it. Big tech made it unaffordable then fucked off. Hoff Twins getting bankPhanLo
- All that costs $$$monospaced
- A few billionaires aren't the problem, just like raising minimum wages doesn't do much. Both are just posters.formed
- But the wealth divide IS the problem and that involves everyone. We need solutions for fair distribution of profits, etc. There is no other way.formed
- That’s literally what I’m sayingmonospaced
- Not having money many times leads to drug addiction, and having money is what many times leads to treatmentShenanigansTV

Trump's criminal charges, Biden's age rank as voters' top worries about the candidates
What a country!
- OK, yeah, Biden's old. But it's not like the office of the presidency in the US hasn't got a Plan B (VP) in case Plan A (POTUS) fails.
Same can't be said Trump.Continuity - I just don't get how people don't realize Rump is only a few years younger and his health is very, very questionable.formed
- ^ Also this. His fanbois think he's a virile Rambo type, when in reality, he just sits there and shits his pants, and looks like Jabba the Hut.Continuity
- 'our guy might be a wheezing old puffin of a man with soup for brains, but *their* guy is a slightly younger, bloated tumour with weird hands and gas'face_melter
- hardly a compelling argument for this to be happening in the first place.face_melter
- At least Trump can muster up some energy for an hour at a time. Biden’s highest energy level is sadnb
- Yeah energy wasted rambling incoherently while all the Hayoths get raging boners, and hotroddys smile and stand by like beta bitches.monospaced
- No offense. Just analogies. Calm down pussies.monospaced

How is a loser of such magnitude even remotely allowed at this point, after the endlessly-spiralling laundry list of shenanigans, to hold any level of office?
And for what is supposedly the highest and most noble position of the most powerful, dignified nation on this planet? A laughing stock of a situation if not terrifying, and the enemy side is not looking so hot either... again.
Are there not any fresh, fiercely intelligent leader candidates in the citizen ranks that can step forward to make a difference, take the controls before the nation fully nosedives? I’m guessing definitely yes but sadly never going to happen as is not and won’t ever be a friendly game of baseball; citizens be damned.
Good luck all!
- lol death to America, it is so utterly broken it will take generations to remedy - not an election cycle.face_melter
- Once upon a time the shame of misspelling a word was enough to ruin a political career. Now we have Trump. Fuck this shit.monospaced
- ^ that’s it right there, tRUMP was born without a Shame feature.Ramanisky2
- He’s deplorable. He’s shameless. He’s a piece of shit, and sorry but so is anyone who still considers him a fit leader.monospaced

President Joe Biden has gained ground against Republican Donald Trump in six of seven key swing states, and significantly so in at least two of them. The results make for the Democrat’s strongest position yet in a monthly Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll.

no more polls

- Zizek is just.. meh. I still have some of his books, but if you've read enough you know that he just throws everything at the wall and sees what sticks.garbage
- He contradicts himself as much as the Bible. He's the philosophic equivalent of Dr. Phil.garbage
- I like that he made Jordie Petes look a bit silly. Seems a fairly normal person.PhanLo
- I hear ya, but the dr Phil comparison is a bit much :) but ya, have to go macro-view with zizek - In the weeds he’s all over the placeGnash
- lol, actual Dr. Phil could make Jordie Petes look silly. Zizek isn't dumb, but his philosophic approach is reckless and driven by celebrity.garbage
- Reckless, ya, a good word for it. Been a while since I engaged with his stuff, thoughGnash
- Hope he's right about Trumpy.PhanLo

On this day, March 17, 1821 (fuck st Patrick) the Maniots at Areopoli declared war on the Turks in the Peloponnese capital of Mani
Enjoy the majestic changing of the guard
Opa!- fucking hell, you gave me a heart attack I thought I missed the parade today lol._niko
- fun fact the Maniots considered themselves to be direct descendants of the ancient Spartans, they lived in a wild terrain and were never conquered._niko
- Also this is a part-time job, their usual place of employment is here: https://imaginus.ca/…_niko
- True, but they were never conquered because the land was nothing but cliffs and rocks. Not worth the hassle.Gnash
- The spartan thing is a good story but debatable. The last people that still speak the spartan dialect are in an area just south of astrosGnash
- interesting, thanks!
https://www.bbc.com/…_niko - Spartan history has seen some interesting rethinking in the academic world recently. Some of the stuff I took for granted has come into question.Gnash

"Five Other House Republicans Could Resign After Ken Buck"
Ken Buck is pretty horrible, but comparatively, I love him. This move was brilliant and more or less sinks Boebert's career completely. Blindsiding the GOP was a priceless play. I'd buy him a pint if I see him out in Denver!
If this really does start some momentum, this will kill the GOP's chance in Congress completely, which could keep Trump from doing much should he get elected (I personally don't think there's any chance).
