I'm curious how much designers work on average. I work 40 a week... I'm considering picking up freelance stuff in my spare time when I can.
Then again weekends are nice.

40-46 on average. 50 on weeks when a deadline is approaching. I have a ton of time for freelance but damn, do I really want to work 9 hours a day in front of a computer, drive home then work another 3 or 4? Not right now I say.

freelancing for almost 10 yrs, always off-site
between 50 and 60 hrs a week typically.
New rule: don't work weekends
...but usually work 10 - 12 hrs a day.
...allow myself 4 weeks vacation a year.

80+ and yes i enjoy work i just find i don't know what to do anymore without it (and i really hope i never burn out but trying to accommodate time off)

50ish I say I'm working, but that breaks down to 30 actual work, 5 on qbn, 5 on facebook, 5 on spacing out, and 5 on bitching about work

All told, anywhere between 40-60. Very rarely more than that, although it does happen sometimes.

30 - 50, 40 - 50 is rare though.
