I haven't tried that, but I like Boca Burgers a lot. I like my tofu marinated and stir-fried with veggies. Tofu isn't fake, it's just soy curd. Products like this are called "burger" as a matter of convenience and familiarity. It's not like people are fooling themselves into thinking they're actually eating a burger.
By the way, unless you eat organic free-range meat, you're complicit in animal cruelty, environmental degradation, and the death of the small family farm (Just in case anyone's interested in those issues).

I've been a vegetarian for about 4 years now and eat them regularly. I find them to be quite tasty (given that I pile up the burger with a shitload of condiments).

I actually really like tofu, made the Asian way with a nice lot of soy sauce. Tofu was never a material meant to make imitation meat.

I am asking because I am dating a vegetarian girl now. so since she isnt into whoppers I wondered what the alternative is.
thanks so far. I think I might try a tofu burger someday. But I reckon it doesnt taste like the "real" deal.
- Try a Boca Burger. Get 'em for her, and try a bite. They're really good.dog_opus
- no, those things taste horrible. you'll see when you try it sureshot. don't say I didn't warn you.Point5

sometimes people have to eat certain things, or more like can't eat certain things for health issues.
for example i just found out people with cancer should go vegan. this because cancer feeds of of sugar, all animal products, salt, and bleached flours. so basically you must starve the cancer... hey i thought that was pretty interesting.

sureshot - find some decent restaurants. More and more are making creative dishes that are vegetarian.
The problem has been that most vegetarian things have been to the extreme - no fat, vegan, whatever. I've found some super chefs at a few restaurants that make some great veggie dishes, not super low cal, but really, really good.
Look around, at the very least you'll find plenty of places serving somekind of veggie burger (haven't been anywhere in a while that didn't have one).

The real question is,
why do you only have to like meat products?
It's not about being vegetarian, or carnivore.
Some people see this as if was some sort of war between "meat people" and "vegetable people"I like to eat pasta, and I also like to drink water.
What exactly is wrong with being open minded about food, and enjoy vegetarian food one day a meat the other?I don't get it.
- agreed. But meat eaters are just haters. They are the cause of the war between us.VectorMasked
- hahahaMeeklo
- i agree meeklo, i try to not eat meat as much as possible, but i do enjoy it especially when my mom cooks something yummy.sea_sea

I find a vegetarian strict vegetarian lifestyle absolutely boring; I can say the same about a strict meat eating diet as well. Like Meeklo said I'm all about mixing it up.

@ sureshot
where did you find those?
ive never managed to find any of those here (amsterdam)
the albert heijn veggie burgers are good though
- mikotondria30
I havent eaten any meat since 1990, and I just don't think about it - it's not like it's a concious choice everytime I go into a restaurant - 'shall I have the steak ?' It's just not something that's on my radar...
I unconciously just filter out the meat and actually it makes choosing a lot easier.
I like all the veggie burgers that are on the market, I don't think of them as 'fake' anything - it's just soy or myco protein or vege's, mushed together, and it tastes of what it is. It doesn't taste OF beef or chicken, or whatever, anymore than chicken tastes OF soy protein. It's a lump of stuff on a plate that tastes of what it does, you either like it or you don't, people fucking over complicate it all. I don't eat meat, thats it, I'll eat pretty much every other food whether you call it fake real dog hat biscuit lino techno piss crystals or whatever - as long as I know what it's made of I really don't give a piss what semantic fuckery you choose to take part in.
