i'd have to second ninja's choices. although i've heard austin is pretty rad. and flint, michigan. nothing but praises....
- wait a second... Flint??SigDesign
- yeah, you lucky enough to live there?vanilla_cam
- austin? no. i'm from there and was glad to escape. it's ok for a little while, but it gets old really quick.urban10
- and the summers are complete hell, unless you like baking for 3+ months straight.urban10

There is a difference between "best place to live" and "Coolest place to live"
I want to be able to afford a house. IMO. a 500k 1000sqft hole in the wall doesn't scream "best place to live"
I have a house outside ATL. I might move somewhere else one day.

I lived in madison for a year. If I had a tolerance for winter I'd move back. Really a great town.

I have a love-hate thing with Boston but mostly loving it right now. I keep trying to leave (Seattle, Nashville) but keep coming back. I don't think I can live in-land anymore...need the ocean.
Washington D.C. is a pretty cool city too.
- I have the same experience. I just don't know where else to go.Josev

Yeah most the cities that everyone wants to live, like Cali or NYC and others...way too expensive and over-crowded. No thanks.
If I had money to burn, I might change my mind.

I gotta say, it has its downsides (such as no ocean and a non-existent art scene), but the cost of living in St. Louis is the best I've ever seen, when compared with typical salaries. If I'd stayed back East in the B'more area, I'd be making about the same amount of money with 20% higher cost of living.

I've lived in Boston, San Francisco, and Seattle. I liked Seattle the best. Now I live in the 'burbs, which is hands-down my favorite.

Colorado has all 4 seasons, but we also have 70 degree weather days in the middle of winter. Plus if you really want snow you can have it year-round by heading into the mountains.

In terms of aesthetics, Narragansett, RI was the most beautiful place I have ever lived by far. Navy blue water, beautiful, poplar-lined streets, the Point Judith light, sunset at Town Beach, killer restaurants, fewer people than Newport. Now the locals...that's a whole 'nother story.
- Charlestown, Jamestown and Watch Hill are all amazing for RImjg

Nobody likes chicago? been there a few times, great city.
- Chicago is dope, but freaking cold and windy in the winter.designbot

- i was in Chicago once when it was -10 and with the windchill from the lake it was worse than that... but it's a great place to live.SigDesign
