Didn't meet my expectations... I just listened to samples, didn't even buy it. I like him ok, but not a huge fan of the album.

I dont know how it happened. Had you told me back in 2000 I would be a Lil Wayne Fanboy in eight short years I would have sworn off all music. His albums/mixtapes are fun. Each song is different. Nit the same old shit you hear now.

you gotta appreciate lil wayne for what he is... an entertainer. you gotta admit, he has some pretty nice metaphors and dude got flow.
and lil wayne only becomes the mainstream view of hip hop if you make him it. i enjoy listening to lil wayne but i also listen to all of those you listed.

I really do agree with you kush. he's just not in my top 50 list at all (hha, like I can name 50 good rappers right now :P ). I really did used to like him back in the golden era of Cash Money. He definitely is an entertainer, but I see nothing positive in 90% of what he says, nor do I see any comparable talent to a lot of people out there rappin right now. At the same time, that exact thing could be said of the Geto Boys that I played non-stop back in 1990 when I was 15 years old. He's just not for me is all. I think I'm angry because I'm trying to figure out if the rap pool seems shallow right now because it really has become commercialized shit or if it's because I've been listening to it for almost 25 years now and I'm just a jaded old man.

He acts dumb as shit sometimes, makes you wonder who is in charge over there? Seriously listen to 16 and his rambling speach. He sounds like he can barely tie his shoes. He laughs at his own terrible jokes.

it's crazy to me - some of his lines are brilliant, some might as well be written by a four year old.
i think MCs today focus too much on freestyling - not so much what they say or that everything makes sense, or even rhyme, just as long as it's a freestyle.

i think the appeal is basically that he is so Drug influenced, and basically just gets fucked up on a substance or three in the studio and lets the verbal diarrhea flow, which produces some crazy shit that the average writer couldnt come up with. I thought he was fucking crap when I first hear about him a few years back, but somehow now I've managed to find him bearable, and the odd track I actually really enjoyed of the carter III. I think Dr Carter is a really creative track, hes def more creative than alot of MC's in the game right now.

one thing I hate that he does, & thats try to play the guitar!?
hes really jus a one finger picker.Saw him attempting to play along with a track live, and it was reaally bad. "Shoot me Down" on the carter III is dying for a kick ass guitar solo, but something tells me its actually lil wayne playing the guitar solo cos its sooo weak.
