Buying a TV blows. Anyone buy a flat screen they really really like recently? I tried to do research but all I got was conflicting info about different stuff like plasma vs. lcd. Yeah anyone buy one that is awesome?
Also, anyone ever use a mac mini as the center of the home entertainment system, cause I might try that out...

Vizio @ Costco. Cheaper, good quality and HD.
- I got the same, I am happy with it. Mostly because I'm not one of those dudes. I don't buy dvd's at all either.mrdobolina

I've been looking into a new TV as well. I'd like to know.

I've been looking at Bravia's and LG's, although haven't even seen the LG's in person, so they could be garbage.

i was looking at bravia's as well, but I heard color reproduction on them is not as good as other screens, I don't even freaking know.

I would advise against Vizio actually..
if you can't afford Sony or any of the big guns, stick w/ known brands- really? Mine's doing great. Why would you advise against?jfletcher
- same here. I have a 3 year warranty and if they can't fix it they will replace it with a comparable model.mrdobolina
- and they will pick up and deliver.mrdobolina

Although Costco has an amazing warranty...

Does anyone have an LG? I was looking into this one.. http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog…

I was in Best Buy and the LG had the best picture out of all the LCD tvs. Can't go wrong with Sony or Samsung though.

what's up with the vizio?

Samsung full HD 1080p resolution, best quality and pricing onthe market. I am saving for the 52".

Honestly, buying a Vizio today is much like buying a Huffy when BMX ruled in the 80s.
- You're full of shit.mrdobolina
- LT is in the commercials. wtf does he know about tv's?johndiggity

first you need to decide what size you want. I personally prefer not larger than 46 in.

We get great deals on Philips and Panasonic through my agency, but I haven't taken advantage yet.
- spifflink0
we are looking at 46"-52" depending on what deals we can get

Why so much hate on Vizio? I can spend 2500 for a 60" or 4000 on a 60" for another brand. either way I'll dump it in 3 years for something new. I'll take the cheaper. Have people had bad experineces with them?
- Yes. My neighbor and my father. Picture quality was garbage and both lasted only 8-9 months.kona
- get the 3 year extended warranty for 100 bucks.mrdobolina
- mine has lasted almost ayear thus far and the HD is great... hopefully that will continue.jfletcher

I think I'm going 37" to 40". Affordability, and I live in a smaller loft apartment.

This looks promising.

If you play video games or plan to use the TV as a monitor, you shouldn't be buying plasma... from what I've read.
- spifflink0
really? yeah we play a lot of xbox 360 and i am planning on using the mac mini as the setup so i can play movies off of an external HD/the internet.
- Yeh. Go into an electronic store and talk to the TV people.dirtydesign
- unless that store is Best Buy, whereupon you will need to be dragged away from the staff, screaming threats..

- ..talking about ! You work in a fucking shop wearing a blue tshirt". Just tell me where the USB leads are."mikotondria3
