"Also, anyone ever use a mac mini as the center of the home entertainment system, cause I might try that out..."
yes, i have mine hooked up to my LCD. It works out pretty nice for DVDs and even music. If you dont already have a mini, i would save the money and get an AppleTV.

dont by plasma, the technology is dying because they don't last long. I have an olevia that kicks ass for HD and games

For 2cents.
I don't really spend much time in front of the tv at all, I won't bother with cable, and haven't had it in 7 years now. Just nice to have for the occasional stoned PS3 jaunt and movies with the young lady. I'd say about 2 hours a week. Unless I'm totally exhausted, then it's more for the mind numbing qualities.

I researched for a while and ended up with a 40" Samsung LCD.
- Funny, that's what I'm looking into.brains
- Yeah, the colour on the Sony and other brands just didn't look as good as the Samsung.Jnr_Madison

Vizio @ Costco. Cheaper, good quality and HD.
- I got the same, I am happy with it. Mostly because I'm not one of those dudes. I don't buy dvd's at all either.mrdobolina

I've been looking into a new TV as well. I'd like to know.

I've been looking at Bravia's and LG's, although haven't even seen the LG's in person, so they could be garbage.
- spifflink0
i was looking at bravia's as well, but I heard color reproduction on them is not as good as other screens, I don't even freaking know.

I would advise against Vizio actually..
if you can't afford Sony or any of the big guns, stick w/ known brands- really? Mine's doing great. Why would you advise against?jfletcher
- same here. I have a 3 year warranty and if they can't fix it they will replace it with a comparable model.mrdobolina
- and they will pick up and deliver.mrdobolina

Although Costco has an amazing warranty...

Does anyone have an LG? I was looking into this one.. http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog…

I was in Best Buy and the LG had the best picture out of all the LCD tvs. Can't go wrong with Sony or Samsung though.
- spifflink0
what's up with the vizio?
- organic_grid0
Samsung full HD 1080p resolution, best quality and pricing onthe market. I am saving for the 52".

Honestly, buying a Vizio today is much like buying a Huffy when BMX ruled in the 80s.
- You're full of shit.mrdobolina

first you need to decide what size you want. I personally prefer not larger than 46 in.

We get great deals on Philips and Panasonic through my agency, but I haven't taken advantage yet.
- spifflink0
we are looking at 46"-52" depending on what deals we can get
