the only good car every to come out of the mazda factory is the rx-8
don't bother with the rest of them, they look like shite, drives like shite, and resell value is worse than a Daewoo.
Get a Toyota or a Subaru if you want to drive a car from the far east.

06+ Mazdaspeed3 > 08 wrx
07+ GTiMk5 > 08 wrxGo and search from some reviews. No one really like the new WRX anymore.
The new wrxs are pretty bad. Still heavy, watered down and built to a penny. I was going to get a 08 wrx to replace my 02 2.5RS but the new impreza is really crappy inside. Which means I may just keep my 02 and do a drivetrain swap or keep on saving for a used bmw 135i. The 2009 are supposed to come with 250hp but the interior is supposed to stay the same.

I second the anti-VW sentiments. I was a diehard VW owner (Ive owned 5 -- the last three I bought new). My last Jetta (a 2000 model) after 3 years was in the shop continuously. I thought it was a lemon but when I searched online I found that the problems were common. It still looks like brand new and only has 53k miles on it. Across three years I spent 11k on repairs while thinking this was the last thing it needed.
I've heard that the MrkVs are much better designed. I'd lease or buy another if the plan was to keep it for only three years, beyond that I don't trust them.
- Wow, What problems other than the common electrical ones?Mimio
- If it was only 3 years old why were you paying for repairs. With only 53k surely it was still under warranty.2cents
- I still don't understand why you're paying for repairs on a 3 year old car with 53K on it. Doesn't add up.2cents
- I wasnt very articulate when I wrote that (I shouldnt be distracted while working on deadlines).
Josev - The repairs happened after three years. The warranty was up. Coils, water pump files, components in sunroof, windshield wiper motors, electrical in door, locking system, catalytic converter, oxygen sensor,Josev
- I meant water pump failed. window electrical, windshield wiper mechanicals, door locking system, moreJosev
- My best friend bought her beetle the same year as my Jetta and had a similar experience.Josev

I have a 2003 Mazda6s and haven't had any problems with it. Just a couple minor things that were fixed under warranty. Pretty decent gas mileage too. I'm not a big fan of the standard Mazda3's. I test drove the Mazdaspeed3 when they came out and thought about trading up, but practicality gave me a tap on the shoulder. If you like to drive fast and don't care about gas mileage, go for the Mazdaspeed3. That thing will go!

Oh yea, my one biddy friend just got this car I think. She drove me from Pottsville to Philly to catch a flight and I have to say it was a pretty suite ride. I really dug it.

- that tire explanation doesn't make sense. my potenza re070s don't make that much noise when pushed to their limit.alkanenine

yeah, i love the mazdaspeed3 as well.
As for the anti-VW statements, I've had 4 VWs and never had a problem with any of them. I've since upgraded to Audi's and I've love them. I've had problems early on with the S4 when the O2 sensor kept going in the first month i had it. But since then I haven't had a problem. Anyway, I guess people have gotten bad VWs and I was lucky enough to get 4 good ones. If you don't want to take a chance, don't get VW's. Although, new VWs have gotten much better reliability rating compared to previous gen.
