that doesn't appear much smaller than an slr

does it take other lenses? i cant see them on that site... or does it just have a wide angle adaptor? ricoh lens quality is pish by the way...
- its just the wide angle, but thats what i want. i love the one for my lc-a23kon
- i'm just saying that for the money you can get better glass quality. a second hand 400D with a 50m ƒ1.8 would blow that ricoh out of the waterforcetwelve

its quite a bit smaller than an slr when you take the lens off.
forcetwelve, what makes you say the lenses are pish?
ive been lookin on flickr and they look pretty good to me.
also read some reviews and they say the camera is a popular backup for professional photographers instead of their topspec slr.if they are pish whats with the big pricetag?

The ricoh grd cameras don't have interchangable lenses... like i said, there are cameras you can get with lens adapters, such as that and the canon g9. If you want to spend the 700 dollars or whatever the GRDII costs, then its pretty sweet.

oh stop it.
all these serious threads!!

ricoh had an extremely poor track record with its film cameras
having said that chances are they have little to do with the production of the digital cameras. probably made by a third party to their spec.

Eh? The ricoh GR film cameras are probably amongst the top 5 35mm point and shoots. The first grd has some issues like noise (though it was really grain-like and sharp) and really slow raw write speeds, but from what i've heard the grd2 is really great.

been reading up about this Ricoh GR and GR II
the GR II has a few extra features like horizon levelling and others.
but the firmware that theyve brought out for the higher quality imaging can actually be downloaded and installed onto the GR
now THATS a nice feature other camera manufacturers dont to.the reviews ive been reading are all good too.
im going to go to jessops and check out the ricoh's but theres also
FujiFilm Finepix F100FD thats really high spec and is getting rave reviews everywhere. 12.9 megapixels too.
My fisheye and tunnelvision lenses will work with this.

Just please ignore megapixel count ]:
If you get the gr2 i'll be jealous. It's so pricey though..

porn
it is pricey but i think it would be worth it.
and thinkin of all the money id save on developing
im seriously considering it.
i'll see if jessops can do their sales pitch and sell me on getting one tomorrow hehehe.

ive been doing a LOT of research into this camera.
one feature of the Ricoh GR was that rather than a "digital noise" is added to compress the images like most cameras, it applied a compression that was more like film grain.
that made the results from this camera very unique.it seems that when Ricoh brought out the GR2 they didnt include this and opted for a more digital form of compression.
If you read forums on flickr you will see there is a real die hard following for the GR.
It seems that the only real advantage the GR2 has over the GR is that its more tuned towards RAW image shooters - it saves to card much faster (3 seconds rather than 15 i think i read somewhere).

i wondered how long everyone being serious would last :P
im now looking at the Ricoh GX100 its similar to the GR and GR2 and will take the same lens attachments but it also has the benefit of 3x optical zoom (the others are fixed).
Its hell trying to decide - the forums for each of the three cameras give bigups to each for different reasons and it seems the image quality is different on all 3 cameras.
Maybe people are just being too wanky?
