Is there such a thing as a digital compact camera that can take various lenses?
At the moment im shooting 35mm on a Lomo LC-A
I've got a wide angle lens for it - this attaches via front faceplate. And ive also got a tunnelvision lens and a fisheye for it. These attach via a metal ring stuck to the front faceplate and the back of the lens is a magnet.Ive got a little compact pentax that ive fixed a ring to the lens so that i can use the fisheye/tunnelvision with. Id love to use the wide angle with it but sadly its that different fitting.
The problem with using these lenses when you use the flash though is that the lens obscures a bit of the flash so you get a shadow on what you are taking a photo of.I was wondering if there was such a thing as a small compact digital camera that can take interchangeable lenses. Something i can keep in my pocket.
I dont really want to get a big digital SLR. not interested in that sort of bulk.

There's nothing pocket sized.

you have to build it

NO

Nope nothing, save for some compacts with lens adapters rather than actual lenses.

Thanks for the replies, id been looking around online but to no avail. was just seeing if anyone else knew anything more.
I think there would be a market for a little digital camera like this.
The company could sell it using the same kind of marketing talk that lomography use.

A DSLR is really "too big" for ya? Man you can get even a basic Rebel XT for like $200 now... and a big world of lenses will magically open up. I'd say the 'size' is a pretty weak argument considering the insane amount of benefits you get.

Takes Leica!
A little bigger than a pocket compact, and hard to find, but fuck me what an amazing camera... I have one.;)

Tell me more about your lenses for the LC-A. Where'd you get em?
I'm shooting with a Canon G9 with a wide angle adapter. Honestly... the wide lens is so big it might as well be a SLR at that point. I'm just saying.
Panasonic just released the FX35 which has a 24mm lens built in. Pretty wide for a compact.

get a 400D instead of the Rebel. heaps better camera, and you can use any of the canon EF lenses.
- same camerasikma
- Obviously 400D is better than 300D, but I offered the cheapest possible solution hehe ;)kult
- the rebel XTi isn't the same as the 400D. the 400D was released later and has a bigger screen. (in australia anyway)forcetwelve
- 350D = XT
400D = XTi
450D = XSi
They only have different badges on the front, they are the same camera.omgitsacamera

The epson rd1 looks amazing hehe.
see, someone should take up the concept and go for a 10 megapixel compact that took leica or other lenses. id buy one in a snap!!i bought the lc-a fisheye lens from lomography.com
i got the tunnelvision (its essentially a x0.45 wide angle) from ebay - its NOT a LSI one, but same thing.
i got the wide angle lens from lomography.com too. you need an LC-A+ to use this (as faceplate has grooves on it that the lens slides down to fix on). I wrote to LSI and asked them nicely if they would sell me a faceplate to attach to my LC-A, they were nice and sent me one for free :)kult, yeah i dont want an SLR cos of the size. size really IS an issue, i can carry my lc-a around with me in my pocket without it being a chore to carry around. whereas carrying a slr about everyday IS a chore.

i wonder what the future will bring for compact cameras.
little known fact - as a lens gets smaller its resolving power increases. once sensors can resolve info from these small lens they will in theory be sharper than larger full frame sensor lens.
- 23kon0
my wee pentax is only 4 or 5 megapixels.
i might take my lenses for my lca down to local camera shop and see which little digitals they work on and try get one with the flash a distance from the lens.
while lookin on pixmania i saw this lil beauty

its got a wide angle toopanasonic looks good spec too actually

Its really hard to make either smaller digital cameras with interchangable lenses, or full frame digital cameras with rangefinder lenses. There are a ton of issues with how the elements closest to the sensor work with it, hence the still lack of a full frame leica m8 or whatever. A digital CL though would be <3_<3

this one is pretty small... maybe not quite pocket small, but getting there.
- pom0
it'll never 'get there' since slrs are by design incapable of being pretty small =p
- sikma0
i always figured that slr's would eventually become obsolete. "live view" off the senors would replace the need for penta prisms and mirrors behind the lens. once again this is technology that will take years to hit the markets

the tunnelvision and fisheye lenses fit my optio s5n
i just stuck one of the metal rings around the lens and they work fine.the only downside is when you use them, cos they add length (and width) extension to the standard lens barrel, you get a shadow in the bottom left of the picture where the lens obscures the flash.
like i said, might go down to local camera shop and ask to test different cameras with the lenses on.
in theory if i find one with the flash further away from the lens then all might be ok. some cameras have the flash over an inch away.
as you can see from the pic above , my pentax's flash is just above and to the side of the lens.

a friend of mine uses large peep holes that he buys from the hard wear store and tapes them to the front of his camera. cheap and it looks surprisingly good
- 23kon0
yeah ive seen that done before with peepholes hehe

well, after an evening of researching cameras online i finally found a compact(ish) digital camera at 10mp that takes interchangeable lenses.
i have to say - the design of the thing is really sweet too.
that set includes the 19mm wide angle lens attachment and digital viewfinder. a whopping £500 from jessops though.check out the ricoh website for more info
http://www.ricohpmmc.com/uk/prod…the older model is nicer from a design point of view - looks well retro!
http://www.gr-digital.com/im gona go see these in the flesh at the weekend at jessops.
think ive found what ive been looking for!!!!!!
