Well it's been a year now in the big bad world of Freelance and so far so good. I've worked on some great projects with some great people and to top it off I've just been shortlisted in the Best Freelancer category in this years Big Chip Awards, http://www.bigchipawards.co.uk/, so fingers crossed.
So to celebrate my Freelance birthday and being shortlisted I've treated myself to a new site. The old one had done it's job and was due for retirement. New work, news features will be added on a regular basis.
You can see my new site here www.flashtemple.com.

MINE ARE BIGGER, GET OFF MY PODIUM.Spookytim - suppose it sounds more prestigious than a webby or 'site of the day'neue75_bold

Some of your work looks nice but I personally hate the long sentence and over friendly attitude... oh and incase is two words. Good luck with the big chips.
- Felt the same reading that intro blurb. Felt like a limp handshake.Spookytim

you've got inch marks instead of quote marks. the design police will be on the phone!

Congratulations Matt, on the freelancing and the shortlisting. I know nothing about websites so can't comment except to say it seems to work and looks presentable.

I think the intro text is spot on, he is a freelancer, and it tells the situation exactly like it is... He's done some good work, he's based in Manchester, he is a respected freelancer.
- here, here..!!mild
- There's no grammar in that sentence. I realise that he's trying a long story in single breath thing but...JerseyRaindog
- He aint got the copy skills to pull it off.JerseyRaindog
- There isn't meant to be is there? It is a 'once upon a time' thing... even I got that!mimeartist
- I kind of agree with jersey - the idea is clear but teh execution could be betterkelpie

1 Thing:
Please let me use my mouse scroll :)
- That was *exactly* what I was thinking as well!elektromuzak

nice stuff you've got there. A friend of mine worked on the Orange site, it's doing really well isn't it? I believe it's up for a webby as well.
p.s. I think the scroll needs more functionality too. I didn't even spot it the first time I looked.

nice work indeed

just the one comma. I have to agree with others - I like the "voice" of the text but you should add some punctuation to make better sense of it.

I understood, completely, the chummy style of the copywriting, but I felt it was a bit too much like being rushed on my doorstep by an eager cubscout who is really really eager to clean my car mister for charity mister go on let me please please please I'll do it ever so good mister so I will I promise oh gone lets.
I just felt, myself, that as a business tool, that style of copy would be better a bit further in, not slap bang right there when you enter the site before you've had a chance to be impressed by the precise professionalism of the work. I'm not saying I think its wrong, or badly written, I just think its not the best 'first impression' that one could make.

Hello Matt,
I love your work for Orange unlimited so simple, and it works very well. we was checking it out in the studio in art school not so long ago so its great to "see" one the faces behind of it.
i agree with some of the statements made. i think you should reposition the intro text so its not the 1st thing that hits you. i would if i was a potential employee feel more endeared to the text after I have seen the standard of your work.
and i felt the lack of scroll right away to its such a must.

congratulations on your first year of freelancing!!!!

Personally I think the approach with the opening copy is fine, if someone wants to just skip it they will.
However, that said- as a frequent copywriter I would recommend getting the statement about working on Orange, Doc Martens, etc. up front at the beginning. Just my two marketing cents.
Great work otherwise.
