I too am a portland QBN'er.
I love it here. Have lived here almost 10 years.
Beaverton isn't Portland though. Just to, y'know...clear that up.
But it's a short train ride.

Seems a mass exodus has been happening over the last couple months. One of my friends just moved there this last weekend from Bend.

Just Be / Compound, and Missing Link have you covered for vinyl toys and related books. Powells Books is unmatched for their sheer quantity of books.
Busses and light rail run frequently and will get you where you need to go, though they stop running after 1am. I bike / light rail everyday from Portland to Beaverton for work.- You could spend days in Powells.tparsons

Do there any special shows or design events happening frequently in Portland? For example, here in San Diego we have the Y-Conference hosted by AIGA which is like a mini HOW Con.

I don't know too much about the design/work scene here. I'm self-employed from home and most of my clients are in NYC. I usually hear the job market here isn't that great because it's smaller than the big cities. Like most things, I'm sure it is what you make it.Portland is not without its problems, but I love it here. It's a beautiful area.

- totally. Many cities have a higher annual rainfall, but PDX gets the rep. Most rains here are pretty short-lived.arthur

- it's usually a nice kind of rain, one you can still be out and about in pretty easily. But it does rain, no doubt.arthur
- Winter is also pretty dark. I'm from California and to me the winters here suck. the other 3 seasons are awesome.arthur

portland has the shittiest late-night restaurant scene. I get the late-night munchies a lot, and i a sick of taco bell and jack in the crack. there needs to be some decent 24 breakfast joints in the downtown/pearl area! jesus!
