I've been trying to give my daughter a grounding in eighties music, so have been listening to quite a lot of it recently. One thing I've never really done with music from that era is listen to it with headphones (well, at least modern in-ear ones - I'm not talking about those orange-sponged atrocities we had plugged into our walkmans) and it's made me really appreciate it beyond the base background radio presence it always was for me in my younger years. Like, they were tunes I thought were fine enough, but i never really savoured or appreciated them for what they actually brought anew.
Anyway, her favourites from today are:
Obvs Spotify or originals have better headphone-sound than youtube...

- nice :) my daughter is in her 20's now, and grew up listening to stuff like 'killing joke' and cocteau twins with me :)exador1
- she's always been keen on late 70's and early 80's synth bands... lately she's been obsessed with a band from that era called 'the sound'exador1

- @exador - lovely! I've long-since wondered at the perception of the continuum of music development and how it's perceived by 'new' ears.Nairn
- I know it's impossible, but I've always wondered what it would be like to be in the head of some different, younger, hearing 'old' tunes for the first timeNairn
