I like the blue/red thingy, The extended type feels off to me.

I like the mark, i am just not feeling the type. It is really long and kind of hard to read. It almost needs to be lighter in weight. Unless you squished it.

I think it feels really good! I like the tight swirl of the two (well contrasting) colors, which gives me just enough movement without getting to squirrelly.
I don't know if you've kerned it yet but there could be some corrections around the "itio" little tension kicking in there. However, I'd be proud to throw that on the table.

It looks nice.
Their name is AirConditioner? How many focus groups and think tanks battled to squeeze out that masterpiece?

- hahaha, it's not, I was just using it as a Name sample...

Kind of agree with the font quibbles - shouldn't you use an 'American' font with the mark?
Is the mark supposed to be a spring? If it is, I'd play with the bottom bit a little, if it's not - I'd leave it as it is.
The shading top and bottom are different though - red gradient is non-existent compared to blue, and they're both at slightly different angles?
I like where it's going though.

the mark at the moment is not in balance,
it needs to be finetuned....
change the extended type, make it a bold or a black akzidenz grotesk or galaxy polaris.
lose the degradé in the imagemark, itcan be used in in digital purposed but for print your opening up a can of worms....

Thanks for the great feedback guys, I am glad most of you think it is a good start. Let me clarify a few things...
Name was not adjusted, it was done on helvetica ext. which I am sure will change once we get the mark done. Kerning was done in 2 seconds because that is not the real name and I just wanted to test it. :)
Nairn (sorry, I like this name better) you are correct sir, I am still playing with gradients. And do, it is not a spring. I wanted to create an icon that would give a sense of mobility/flow and freshness. Based on feedback I think it's going well so far. The colors will be the same, I just have to tweak gradients and make sure I don't go crazy with them...
What font should I consider to compliment this bad boy? Any suggestions?

Hmm.. Fancy petitioning QBN for the return of my old name, then? :)
Just a wee thing - have you tried the red on top? Logic tells me that heat rises, is all. Though, I guess, the point of AC is to nullify either extreme of temperature, so perhaps your way is better.
Since I wrote the above, the join between the top of the red and the background blue is bothering me - it's so close, it should be joined. If it's not to be joined (as it's not a spring), I'd expect there to be a bigger gap? Anyway, I get that your still early on, so persnicketiness is probably not very helpful right now!

Its sorta reminiscent of the new Chevron logo, not calling it a rip, just saying stylistically they are similar. I like the coil, I think there is more you can do with the type however, like the others have suggested maybe try a condensed light version. The word AirConditioner just looks too long and heavy in that weight/pt size.

1 - The icon looks like its falling to the left because of the way the folds are illustrated. I would also align it vertically with AirConditioner instead of with AirConditioner and Cooling and Heating.
2 - The type choice looks appropriate to me. The thickness/widness of the font gives it a solid and professional look.
3 - Push the "cooling and heating" to the right a bit and separate it more from the wordmark. It might be technically aligned, but it looks a bit too much to the left.
4 - What detritus said about the red on top. It would add to the strength of the logo.

Alright, I have to admit it, I've been working on the stupid coil corners and trying to make them rounder / flow better but it's driving me crazy!!! Any tips on how to achieve this as apinless as possible?
- hai - bit busy at moment (actually, bit drunk right now) - have read your ungh. Will respond soon. xdetritus
