the colors on the 1st one are off and the sign painter font is clashing.

Art institute is a chain of schools around america offering degrees in design, photography, illustration, 3d modelling, animation, anything in the arts, (including culinary).

I prefer #1. It is more artsy in color. I agree it is more youthful as well.

I'd go with #1
Less boring and more on target.

#1. it's friendlier. something about #2 makes me think of politics.

#1 is perfect for the market.
If it was a culinary school i'd say #2.

Maybe it is just me but #1 looks a bit like a Disney site...or a site directed at 14 year olds. I think it's the color choice and the typeface is weak.
From a prospective student perspective, nothing about this speaks to cutting edge or technologically saavy.

I prefer the colours of 1 but the layout of 2. Though I find both a little all over the place. Like a lot of websites I'm not sure where you want me to read first. There's no 'hook' and I'm left looking at a bunch of buttons...
Oh god, I sound like some kind of client.
- no your response was far more sensible, just cranky734

Yea 1 is definitely too disney, Id restrict the color palette a little and lose the sign-painter font, its a retro-ish vernacular that I dont think an arts school should have.
