Another question...
Photos: I copied a directory from my PC into the "Pictures" folder. Can't see them in iphoto. Where should photo galleries be stored to see them in iphoto? Library? There's no Events or Photos folders in the Library.

Also, and sorry if this seems dumb... but what's the best way to organize files, say, Adobe files and design work? In Documents inside subfolders?
I know this seems like a stupid question, but really this OS organization is very new to me.

How about adding a new folder inside a folder?
I click "Add Folder" while right clicking on a main folder, but it adds it at the bottom of the entire directory, like, below "Sites."
- have to be inside the folder you want a new one created. did you even try that? or just post it here? ;)madirish
- Got it. I owe you a chardonnay.mg33
- You vindictive bitch.
madirish - you can also drag a folder to an other folderakrokdesign

OK guys, no questions in this thread.
I just want to say how completely in awe I am at using this computer. Leopard and the Mac OS in general is miles beyond anything MS and Windows will ever offer. I'm just amazed at how well things work and go together. I've been looking up Widgets on the apple site and frankly it all just blows me away. There are some kick-ass coding and CSS widgets that are going to be instantly useful and prevent me from going to x y z website, or book, whatever, to reference something.
The best thing I've downloaded is Connect360. Here I was thinking I needed to install Windows XP to stream music to my Xbox360 that is connected to my stereo, and I found that program, paid only $20 for it and presto! there's all 40+ GB of my music on my xbox.
So simple to set up. That's what's really impressing me. Stuff just works instantly. I am really loving this, so, thanks to putting up with me for like five months waiting to get to this point. You too madirish!

That shock and awe may lessen a bit as time goes on. When I first used a Mac I was totally in love. I still love the machine, but sometimes there are little things I will miss about Windows (mainly because I am still in school and lots of things are based around Windows). Just like how there are good things about Macs that people will find to be easier than using Windows (maybe a lot more things...heh). I don't have many examples right now, but it takes time to get used to certain things.
I hardly use the Dashboard / widgets anymore. That reminds me. I should go and see if any new, fun things are out...
- "I don't have many examples right now"********
- I knew someone would point that out. One example: to me, it's easier to drag and drop in Windows.Jaline
- ...also, iWork doesn't compare to Office, except in terms of beauty (where it is superior). Other things can make up for this though.Jaline
- this issue though. Like the Omni Group programs, which are useful and are not available for the PC.Jaline
- Basically, some things are better to do on a PC and some are much better to do on a Mac. It all depends.Jaline
- Drag and drop easier on Windows? Hmmm...creative-
- To me it is. Not sure about others.Jaline

btw, im reading youre adding music to itunes, unless u disabled the "copy files to itunes music folder" (preferences > adnvaced) it will actually create a double set of your mp3s, instead of just adding to the playlist
- I like letting iTunes sort everything out for me. Then I just delete my own files.Jaline
- But it's probably a good idea to keep a separate copy of every MP3 for later use. In case something happens.Jaline
- You can drag the iTunes folder onto another drive to back your entire library upcreative-
- Now, mp3 are not the most important files on my system, id rather not have 2 x 40GBdrgs
- True, creative, but if you don't use iTunes in the future then it would be frustrating to get every file out of the folders.Jaline
- Since iTunes organizes them based on artist name. Each in separate folders.Jaline
- Very true. I'm sure there must be a utility out there that can grab all the files from the folders and put them in any location...creative-
- ... if that makes sensecreative-
- Yeah, I've been looking for something that. It would be useful for fonts too.Jaline

"6 Things that Confuse Windows Users who Switch to Mac"
http://blogs.chron.com/techblog/…I still can't tell if "Closing a window doesn't close the program" on a Mac is efficient or not. I think I prefer it the Windows way, although the Mac way offers more options. You can make the windows disappear while not closing the program, or you can keep the window in your dock (on the side of your trash). Mouse buttons are another thing I have not decided about.
Those are probably the main things I had issues with. As well as the CTRL versus COMMAND thing.

Can anyone tell me why the iphoto directory makes a copy of all the photos I've put in Pictures after I imported them? I don't want two sets of the same thing, but I like the way iphoto organizes photos. Did I do something wrong?
BTW - I have spent nearly 5 hours today organizing itunes and downloading album artwork. I can FINALLY use the 80gb ipod classic I bought in december with ALL my music. Upgraded from a 20 gb.
- No, it does that.
Try iPhoto Diet:

Jaline - Yeah, album artwork takes FOREVER to get if you need to get it online. It took me hours too.Jaline
- the option should be off by default..drgs
- No, it does that.

One thing I had beef with was the way Leopard's iPhoto library became just one file instead of browsable photos. I did discover a solution though: if you right/ctrl-click on the 'iPhoto Library' file and select 'Show Package Contents' you can find all your photos in a folder called 'Data'.
