Don't be an idiot like me.
Spent the night in custody after having moved my car from one side of the street to the other while under the influence. (unintentionally parked in a red and noticed it when we were leaving a club at 2 in the morning).
Routine check as I was rolling down the street at 5 km/h looking for a spot. They whipped out the breathalyzer. I was at 0,14 (limit is 0,02). I got cuffed and thrown in the squad car and spent the night on a hard mattress.
Final verdict should be in next week. I am looking, at a minimum, one month behind bars and a few hundred hours of community service.
What a fucking douche I am.

it can happen to the best of us...
albeit, mostly when we were 18...
;)
good luck with that though...

Thanks man
I don't even know what to say to everyone. I sure picked the right time too, as I'm about to be a father ... Fighting this in court should be cheap *ugh*

Ouch... a month in the clink for drunk driving? Can't say I think it's a bad idea... but not that I'm being holier than thou - I only don't do that sort of thing because I don't really drive or drink that much these days.
The few meagre hours I've spent inside have assured me of just how mind-numbingly dull the experience is. So, if you do end up going - take the opportunity to read a couple of really big books that you'd not normally bother with (perhaps a spot of Dostoevsky? ;).

seems too hard if you only had 0.14
or was it 1.4 against 0.2 limit?
- jawks0
Haha, that I will my friend.
It's ironic, not 2 hours before it happened we were talking about drunk driving and how farking stupid you have to be. I have zero respect for people who do it, yet shortly thereafter I was cuffed for doing that exact thing.

Don't you have a kid and also a business - people depending on you? Plus you weren't involved in an accident or anything - you'll probably be able to exchange jail time for a fine.

Corvo, that's what my lawyer says and what we're hoping for but I am not holding my breath. Dodging taxes and violating traffic regulations are two of the hardest things to get away with in this country...
Yeah, plenty of people working in my business, I sure know how to act professional ........ And baby is due this spring.

consider yourself lucky mate!
if someone would have smashed their car into yours, no matter who's fault it was, you would have to pay damages due to the 0.14%.
- vrmbr0
fucked. too bad. shit happens. learn from it and move on jox.
- blaw0
I realize the law can't differentiate between someone moving their vehicle and someone driving home, but, damn, that's an expensive lesson for simple mistake.

Do they have free wi-fi in jail yet?
- pr20
first of all don't let anyone call it "driving while intoxicated" as it has totaly different implication that moving the car while boozed. In court words do matter and which words you chose make goor or bad impression.
Second of all explain that you would never drive intoxicated, yet saw no harm in moving the car at 5km/hour looking for a new spot down the block... I know it sounds obvious but it makes a big difference.

Free wi-fi is nothing to balk at, and think of how nice it'll be to get away for a little while...
