the left image looks better with the copy in it.

Yeah, I'd say the text block is too wide for readability. Personally I'd lose the red and use smaller type in the nav.
Also, have you experimented using the logo filled with imagery instead of a standard 'banner area'? Might be sweet...

okay, i think i almost got it:
http://leftwave.com/indevelopmenā¦regarding the red boxes... those will change color depending on the image combo on the subpage.

i like this third version! the only thing i would change is close up the distance from the nav and the header. it is a biit too tall. instead of 50px or so, maybe make it 15-30px in between them.
i really like the two columns of text. works well here. a better use of grid.

Nice. Text looks waaay better now it's not spanning right across... And the subtle extra space for the logo, don't think I didn't notice ;)
One thing... I personally *hate* HTML-text italics on the web, jaggy and nasty - although on most users setup these days I guess they have font-smoothing switched on and it's ok, but... Maybe it's just my personal preference.
Maybe those "what's new" items could be contained / divided somehow?
Looking nice :)

real nice progression leftwave. i like the direction. pay attention to your spacing though. the amount of pixels "welcome ot nao..." is off the left edge of your left picture, should be the same amount of pixels from the left "what's new" is off it's picture. i really like what you've done with their phone number. have you tried pulling the 'learn more' and 'news archive' to the left under the text? they look a little lost and disjointed down there like they're not a part of anything. very nicely done.

It looks a lot better. Nice work on this.
