Anyone else just get super duper fucked by Dreamhost's auto billing service?
- brenton0
no, because that's the way billing works.
- Ruffian0
Could you state some facts, ffs.
- kodap0
yes, they're billing me $238 this morning, I go to billing panel and everything paid up... weird..
- skwiotsmith0
I was billed $275 twice this morning...
Turns out they also billed me twice for last month as well.
- kodap0
I want a refund even though they didn't charge me .... hehehe
- kodap0
fucked up stuff.. this will be negative for them... hope it's not some crazy hacker.

I got an email too. I changed my hosting plan and the billing notice was strange. More difficult to understand than usual. Sometimes it doesn't update fast enough to tell you what you owe. I think I will have to pay up before the month is finished.
Anyway, prices are worth-it. I never put "auto-billing".

Sad thing is I think there were a few people who got charged who don't use auto-bill pay, at least according to the comments.

"You also have $234.80 past due (owed since 2008-11-04), and if
by 2009-01-04 you do not pay at least the $234.80 part, your
account will be automatically suspended until payment is received."ahahah charging the future! thank god I have no automatic credit card charge... and the panel is now now unavailable. Paneleiros!
- FallowDeer0
yeah I got the same thing saying I owed $238 and that my previous payment had been refused?
fucked up
- Jaline0
Weird.
- FallowDeer0
hopefully I wont get any overdraft fees!
- -2730
yeap, I got the same thing, saying I owed then, but when i logged in it says I dont.
- StratusGD0
Weird. I got the email saying that I was billed, but there's nothing on my bank statement or credit card. Guess they got it fixed already.
- vague0
i got the same thing as well.
- Rodimus790
Likewise. Fortunately I wasn't billed because the credit card they had on file had since expired. So I went in and cancelled one of my two domains. Hopefully they manage to cut the charges in half before they try billing again.

From the horse's mouth...
"- UPDATE Tue Jan 15 07:25:16 PST 2008 -Scripts are still running to correct the original problem. Last night, this guy ran a standard billing cycle to clean up stragglers from 2007. Unfortunately, the biller was ran for 2008 (December 31st, 2008 to be exact). This caused everyone to be billed as if today was 2008-12-31, wreaking the havoc that we are so sorry you had to be put through.
There is currently no ETA on when the “fix it” script will finish, but this post will not be resolved until it is. The script will reverse all erroneous charges and notify you via e-mail of the transaction reversal. If you receive an all clear e-mail, and are still having any problems with your account and/or charges, please contact support immediately.
Once again, we are all *extremely* sorry for the mishap. Thank you for your continued patience while we clean up our mess."

I hear nothing but bad things from people who used Dreamhost. Nothing like this until now though.
- Really? This is the first fuck up I've experienced and I've been with them the best part of 4 years nowWolfboy
- Yeah, but I take it the same way as anything else. No one tells you about the good experience.ornj
- I haven't had any huge problems with them. I keep myself safe first of all anyway, and the price they have is good.Jaline
