just got back from a new years weekend with friends and we had this same conversation about gaming now. We ended up playing hours of Rock Band and Wii while Halo and Cod stayed in the boxes. Nowadays I enjoy social and fun games rather than next level graphics - gaming should always be fun.

I have the exact same problem. I really like gaming, but I only play like 3 titles per system.
I think one of the biggest problem for me is not just the silly stories and characters, but the pace. I remember playing Shenmue and how incredible absorbing it was. this is what I expected gamemakers to do with 3d, but sadly it's all about fast flashy graphics.

All the great Nintendo titles
(they feel more adult to me than most of those scifi space marines games with their nu metal soundtracks)
