Did anyone try it?
Is it worth it or is quad core ok for running multiple apps at the same time (like video editing, graphics, music...)
And what kind of memory upgrade besides apple's is good?

spend it. if the hardware lasts, you will have a good machine for longer. aka, get the 8. you will be glad you did. make sure to get your memory, and apple care elsewhere.

it's funny that they still give the option to have an 8-core with 1 gig of memory and a 250 gig hd.
that will get you far in that intense render...or not.

I have been using the 8core machine for a few weeks now and I have to say it was well worth the upgrade (It was my bosses money after all). My render times have dropped dramatically.
Don't get your extra components and RAM from Apple though. They really crank up the price.

I was looking at the difference in price for MacBooks (for example). Apple want £540 to put 4GB in one.
Crucial do a 4GB kit for £115.
