Also, you're going to want to get a pure bred dog, a monocle, and a cigarette holder.

Neither one.
Broaden your scope.

SF is really great, but its like a giant small town. New York is a real city, the "metropolis of your dreams."

(Oct 29 07, 07:28)lol.
this shit is classic.
"giant small town" lol are you serious? lol.

he spouts the exact ignorance in which he is preaching about.
- Mimio0
I'm not completely serious, but my feeling is that it's not very metropolitan. I'm used to bustle of more industrial cities.
- madirish0
wow....
(mind you, i am not really rooting for either one, but just adding info since i lived there for a good while.)
SF is not metropolitan or industrial? lol
- south san francisco's (incorporated itself after SF was there forever) nicname is the 'industrial city'- go ahead, look it up. center of MUCH industry for the last 100 years+.
- it has had, currently has, and will continue to have THE largest east and southeast asian population percapita in the US. maybe even outside asia in a 'west' city
i guess one's own eperience and exposure to 'metropolitans' is the key here, but to say that "SF is not very metropolitan" is just plain laughable dude. :)
- Mimio0
So your saying it's more industrial or metropolitan than New York?
I have had about equal exposure to both and that's my impression.

LOfuckingL
dude. see this is the *very* thing that comes up over and over again in any survey of cities, of which NYC happens to be one, and the funniest part is..........IT"S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT A FUCKING COMPARISON TO NYC ALL THE TIME. lol
*ahem
sorry man, but that is what always makes me laugh. i am saying nothing of the sort to which you ask- i feel SF is metropolitan AND industrial in it's own right, on it's own accord and in no comparison to NYC.... or any other city.
period.
cool? :)
- Llyod0
south san francisco is its own thing. they rarely mix with the city.
- Jaline0
maybe he means the stereotypical way an "industrial" city is seen? b/c the media portrays NYC as being more industrial and gritty compared to most other places.
- Mimio0
Yeah, but the topic of the thread is contrasting the two cities and their lifestyles.
- Complexfruit0
*inserts 2 cents
SF: laid back attitude
NYC: get out of my way attitude
Both: great places to live

are people looking for a job in the steel or fab industry. Do we have dry wallers here? Or are people NIN fans?
Why would you want to live in a industrial area? Do snap cool , hip shots with your Lomo?
- Mimio0
No shit he did.
- madirish0
lol
not at all people. actually, i have had none. it is just the constant comparo to NYC on everything as the be-all-end-all measuring stick i will never understand. it is such a centric approach.
we are cool mimio- i do not read the inquiry here are a comparison of the 2, but if that is the case, so be it.

In NYC, you can step out your front door at 3am, get a slice of pizza, pick up a 6-pack, walk past a model and then two seconds later see a bum urinating on a stop light.
Case settled for you yet?

(Oct 29 07, 09:34)If you need that to be stimulated, you need to find a more fulfilling hobby or outlet in your life.
