Unfortunately no big guns to bring in today, but I'll check the market prices on ebay for some horse heads. That would be a nice touch.
My dad's not a big-ballin' attorney, but he's a lawyer nonetheless and he's got my back.

Happy ending to this thread! I'm typing this from my new laptop!
After threatening to take my property management company to court they finally paid up for their mistake.
I wound up losing nothing except for a few hours of headache and lost production time.
Just thinking about it and wanted to share.

We'll never know who has the original one. My guess is some punk-ass resident swiped it as it was sitting near the doorstep of the management office.
I was telling my girlfriend the other day how I hope the dude who stole it is a web designer, and has the hard drive take a shit the night before a major project is due. Either that or maybe he gets hit by a car.

What did you use to buy it? Maybe the Credit Card company has something that could help..wouldn't hurt to call them...

No help I guess but UPS or whoever will have a pic of the signature they got - who ever signed is the one with the red fingers

well to make a short story long....
I gave specific directions to DHL to have the front office at our complex sign for the package. (I live in a 400+ unit complex) i've done it before with no problems.
Front office signed. Package was then supposed to be transferred to the security office for pickup and I was to notified. Again, this process usually just works. But none of that ever happened.
So either some douchbag security officer, a property manager, or a sneaky resident who sniped it have the package.
Fuck this place. I am going to move.

on the bright side I had actually given some thought to trying a mac.... that would've put me out double the amount.

Well the last person to sign for it has responsibility. Sue the building. Seems like a pretty clear cut legal argument.
