thanks for the insights dinky- i like it.
i also find it funny to hear people laugh, bitch, complain, 'told you so...', etc about phone quality, when 90% of the mobile phones/devices on the market today have *horrible* phone mic/speakers.
got a razr? sucker. have fun with that.
got anything made by Samsung? bet you also have an earpiece too so you can hear your calls.
i also want to be the first to acknowledge that i am in no way touting apple or the iphone to be the greatest thing since sliced bread, but to just dis the technology from a brand perspective and not it's developments and/or innovations as a device is so chump-like it is laughable.
i am not in line to get one of these, but would love to experience them to see how they enable me to communicate... even if that happens to be via a phone call...

I always chuckle at the irony of designers who deny the importance of elegance in system software design

you know what i didnt want to get it. and i am far from being an apple fan
i just wanted to try it see how it was
i tried and i actually really like it.
its a difference experience. yes there are kinks but thats what you get for buying the first gen.
i guess people also laughed at others when they bought $400 ipod when it first came out.

my point is that apple is an example of the value of design. Their products cost more, but it is worth it because of the far superior design of the physical product and the operating systems. It's ironic that designers, who earn their living persuading clients that design has monetary value, fails to embrace this

it looks really cool dinky. did you have to wait in a huge to get it or was it fairly quick?
if the price was a bit less i would consider getting one myself. the interface alone i think is worth it i think.
but then when i read articles where people say "It feels great, oh my God, overwhelming. I never thought this day would come - and now it finally has, it's mind-blowing," talking about the iphone as if they invented the cure to cancer, i feel repulsed and want to throw up on their faces.

I agree with Matt that it's innovative in some aspects, but I also think that a brand like Apple should be stepping it up by making a phone that is an amazing PHONE first and foremost before spending more efforts on other features. Those other features are what make the phone an innovative phone and by Apple, but its ability to function as a phone should exceed these extra features.

Not bashing to phone or anything, but I thought functioning as a phone amazingly is a given, especially with a brand like Apple.
Maybe I think this way because I don't own a phone and don't use one very often.

*I mean that I own a phone, not a cellphone.

^ what she said!
I need it to not drop calls and sound good. That is #1
Getting/sending email #2
Opening attachments would be cool too

(Jun 30 07, 14:17)I don't get it, what other type of phone is there?
- Jaline0
I just clarified since the iphone is a cellphone. And not having an actual phone in the house may make people believe that I know nothing about phones, heh.
I guess I'm looking too much into the dark ages ;)

It's just a phone with some 'extras' built in that looks nice.
There are many, many, many more important things in life.
