I'm an interactive Art Director. Have been working in interactive for the last 12 years and advertising for the last 6. As far as skillsets go I'm very well rounded. What salary range would I fall in?

I guess it depends where you live and work. but I'd say you should be making $80-90K at minimum.

Hey thanks version5, been too busy with work to hang out on PVN, which is saying a lot. I'll get some tunes up tomorrow, got a lot of good stuff that needs to get out there:)

Is it sad that people in our industry aren't expected to crack $100K after 12 years?! Just wondering...

Underpaid and overworked...
Before graduating (many yrs ago) and working i thought that design was glamorous!! Silly and naive!!

(Jun 7 07, 22:46)before taxes i assume, is it also -30-40% in the states?
- kezza_20
in the UK it could be anything up to £80k. about $150k

with that experience though, it's about your portfolio. If you've done 12 years with no awards etc, no where near that. If you are an award winning AD with awards and a top portfolio, you are gold dust sunshine.

-------so laminated menus for 126 local cafe's and 532 one-man-band company business cards AND designing a tshirt for Threadless then spamming it on the PBS doesnt count as a decent portfolio?
damn, i better start shooting for some awards then!!

70-80 k? After that many years, I"d guess much closer to 100k - say in a larger city in a medium sized company, at least.

regarding your skillsets, and your experince, i'd really have to meet up with a 'candidate', to see what salary they'd realistically deserve. i'm a great believer in the 'human touch', and openess and friendly that opens doors for that certain 'individual'. i've been around the bases and have up until now, thus far, had a really succesful career. i'd started in music marketing and the promotions industry before studying for a Risk Management Phd at a well known U.S university. on my return to ireland, and later to london and poland, i've been commanding a very reasonable salary. in 2003 i was earning £56k, with add-ons from writing from various U.S trade magazines, i was taking in at least £65k. i was actually told by Michael Reame at a well known Expo launch at the Enterprise IG stand and v.i.p area, i was punching below my weight. i currently earn circa £58k, as i have toned down a lot of my engagements,as reame said, slective pruning vs. secquential saturation is best for you mickey. i now prepare seminars for business's operating in and around Dubai and the Lake District. the good thing about the salary means i have been able to insure my bristol blenheim and golf clubs rather wisely. i also own a series of mews properties in waterford and was the youngest ever vice chairman of an irish rotary club in history, ever.. daft eh?

12 years with a good portfolio. In nyc that is $125+ at least, or $850 a day freelance.
- grunttt0
my salary is average at best.

You guys are talking agency Creative Director numbers. Even in NY can you make more that 80K being an AD?
