i've been sending out demo cds wrapped in laminated doilies since 2004, nothing beats the power of the doily to signpost yourself as a designer for the people. but i never thought of colouring them in. you are clearly a genius.
i say chinese teapots are the next net fad

Can we turn your nobbatroll mode off?
Or did some silly japester at "Wine of course"* superglue it in the on position?
* shouldn't that be "Wine, of course"?
or.. "I can't believe it's a non-bargain basement cider shop in Archway!"?

hi plamenski, we're just doing our bit to highlight the fact that it's taken nearly 800 posts to say next to nothing.
such is the state of our industry: Doilies Do It Better.

Hi, vespa. A lot has been said. Some of it even makes sense.
Industry seems in pretty good shape as the guys from Wolff have just showns us.

looks like someone in a suit has said 'let's get wit the kids and make something that looks a bit like grafitti'. Et voila.

Beyond the shite logo, I can only see this making life more difficult for designers when you've got the public now thinking they CAN do better. Further to that, Major Ken sticking his pips in and saying Wolff shouldn't get paid doesn't help anyone.
The whole thing just leaves the public (our potential clients) completely non the wiser to what makes a good brand or good design.
Worse than that, it even devalues the work that we do.

From BBC:
Michael Wolff, co-founder of designers Wolff Olins, which created the logo, said it had not been "done justice" and blamed Olympic organisers for not publicising it properly.
How fucking arrogant is that, so you design a diabolical logo that is universally condemned, 48,000 people sign a petition against it in 3 days and then you blame the client!!!!!!
- kelpie0
I thought Red Ken came out and praised it on the first day, what's the script there?

Well then, all designers should have stood by your colleagues then and defend your guild. Everyone would have been better off.But instead designers saw the 400 grand price tag and thought they should have got it instead.
- Chickenhands0
I should add that Michael Wolff is no longer at Wolff Ollins but blaming the Olympic organisation is only half the story.

Yes, up until now.
This is Logo 2.0. Google sort of started the trend but never in this scale. And you guys do it but only once a year when you put a Xmas hat on your logos.
Logo 2.0 is dada logo, an anti-logo.

(Jun 7 07, 02:14)You have got to be kidding me. This is not conceptual art. This is a logo. If you think it's okay for designers to sacrifice form on the altar of concept, you have missed your calling and might be better advised to pursue a career in the fine arts. I don't mean to be snide, but I think when designers get into such notions, they are being irresponsible and shortchanging their clients. Not to mention making the rest of us look bad.
Logo 2.0? Web 2.0? How about just good, thoughtful design that works equally well from both conceptual and aesthetic considerations? How about we come back from Amsterdam's red light district and lay off the LSD?

plamenskis is clueless. They more I read from him , the more I am convinced he is borderline retarded.
We get it Plammy, we know what they were trying to do, we get their big idea and vision.
Thing is, They failed, point blank. End of story. Better luck next time.
Actually, good luck at getting anymore accounts, hahaha.
