time yourself.
what trains are you taking?
When I have to visit a client up on the UES, if I leave at 8:30, I get there by 9:30, but if I leave at 9:15, I can get there by 9:35-45.
It's wierd like that.

From bed to desk, 1 minute. On occasion, Brooklyn to Herald Sq. 30–40 min.

I save an hour for my Greenpoint Tribeca commute. Sometimes it's 45 minutes. It's 2 trains + a 12 minute walk or a 6 minute bus ride.
That 2 hours/day figure kicked me in the dick last week upon contemplating my first freelance summer. I suddenly felt raped out of 10 billable hours per week.

Yeah, approx 20 seconds from jumping out of bed to sitting at my work space. There's usually a quick stroll outside to capture and return home with two cups of coffee to work to though...
And when I wake up as early as I've been lately--4:30-5:30AM--it almost feels like floating between those points.
