I got a gun pulled on me last week. I blame poverty more than anything.

(Apr 17 07, 13:30)I'd agree on that statement.

the amendment was created a while ago to protect you from the government and foreigners. maybe it should be updated.
By the way, the shooter's family has been in USA for a while and is a legal citizen.
not to say that guns should be taken out of the picture, because violence will always be there, but the logic behind having guns doesn't make much sense, because it still seems like a circle to me. Like: everyone else can have guns, so I should be able to have one too.
I know people who have done travelling in the USA and have been stared at with amazement for not having a gun to protect themselves. That concept is so alien to me.
I'm just curious about something. Is it more important to have guns for hunting/gaming or for protection? Because if it's for protection, then wouldn't it be better if no one had guns because they had another level of violence, usually.
Just wondering...

this is NOT and issue of gun control - it is just a reality.
the modern world breeds pyschotic people with no respect for life -
thousands of kids across america support the killer's motive and are wishing they could do the same thingthus it is not an issue to debate, its a sick reality we have to adjust and live with.

probably like 18 or 20 John, 2 dudes in a car, pulled up to my drunk ass and basically told me to run that shit. It was wild. I blame poverty though not really the availability of guns. If dude would have had a billy club I would have ran that shit. These guys wanted money, not a murder rap.
This is what I love about this debate, I say to many people who want all guns banned, do you think it will ever happen in America and they dodge the question always. It aint gonna happen and they know it.

there are neighbourhoods in france where the police will simply not enter anymore. they're no-man zones. the crime in france is unbelievably bad.

I'm glad you did the right thing Mrdobs. Your life isn't worth their next hit of crack.
- Chickenhands0
mrdobolina I don't think it will happen but I DO think it should. Not dodging that question.

you cant take guns away ,,, it's impossible.
Plus, yes... You can kill more than one person without a gun. There have been multiple incidents of people loosing it and running around stabbing and killing people.
If by chance guns were outlawed they would still be easy to get.

there's a bunch of smaller reasons that bring about most epidemics, and i don't think gun violence in america is a lot different.
lack of education + drugs + poverty + no parents...it's more complicated than simply banning guns. and that will never work either. drugs are still illegal in the us yet it's a multibillion dollar/year industry.

can someone please explain to me how poverty = gun violence?
Or even violence in general.
I'm not pauper, but I'd at least like to gain a bit of understanding.

Ted Nugent would go apeshit!

Of course there's a lot more to it that just banning guns — social, educational issues are the root but it's difficult to argue that less easy access to guns wouldn't help.

i realize violence is rampant...
... and yeah... some dude w/a knife can work over a few people... sure...
... but c'mon...
... a gun has no purpose but to fire a deadly projectile of metal at a target.
Thats just... silly to me.

scottish news site's gun crime page. yeah, it's working like a charm:
- Jaline0
Just because it's never going to change doesn't mean we can't discuss it, dobs.
It's clear that the U.S.A. will never change that aspect of itself.
- mrdobolina0
You're right Jaline, but it is completely futile to think it will ever happen.

dobs, I saw an interview with Ted, and I think....he's a respectable gun owner. He gets death threats from animals lovers (which is so ironic), and I've seen interviews with his children. He's quite a strict parent, surprisingly. Very good at being a parent, unlike many other rock stars.
I know his personal life is shit...and the way he treats women, etc. All were discussed in his interview. However, he seems quite intent on not letting his children go the same way.

"the amendment was created a while ago to protect you from the government and foreigners. maybe it should be updated."
actually 2nd ammendment is in place so that the citizens may organize and arm themselves in defense of our rights from OUR OWN government.
"... a gun has no purpose but to fire a deadly projectile of metal at a target."
plausibly i could shoot you and not kill you so it would be wrong that a gun's purpose is killing only. a gun has one purpose, many uses, yet intent and action are still the key factors.

I do not trust the US government with anything anymore. So I say go get all the guns you can. You may need them one day.
