Blue, you beat me to it.
Fundamentalism, or really in this case, opposition to new ideas/preservation of the status quo is a normal part of progression (or even evolution).
And obviously, religious fundamentalists are not solely responsible for this.
And MY point was that not ALL religious fundamentalists say what you say they do, nor do they all say the same things, for that matter. The most extreme are always the loudest. It's a fallacy to assume all "Christians" believe a certain thing just because one does.
Also, I think it's possible to believe in God and science at the same time.

If it please the court, I'd like to get back to something a little more meaningful. To wit: college girls in they knickers.

"fundamentalist" is a nebulous term. What qualifies as a fundamentalist to one person, doesn't to another.
People don't fit into such nice neat little categories in the real world. And lemming demonstrated a nice strawman above for us all.

anthony, amiright?
Dear lord, please let hundreds of drunk college girls wearing next to nothing go running by. I'm a simple man with simple tastes.
Amen.

flagellum, you pigeonhole us every single day.
I am a secular humanist, aint I?

BlueOne is right. From a Darwinian reductionist perspective, being "religious" is heritable. For example, Christians have loving nurturing communities, inner peace, hope, joy, etc... this is attractive to potential mates. They are far more likely to reproduce than say... the angry, hopeless atheist.

f.g. , you sound so insecure about yourself and your beliefs. Just stop talking.

HA,
I bet flagellum wouldnt say a peep if he was actually in a room with us. Thus, the anonymity.

" lemmy, I got to disagree with you in one sense - and although I dislike fundamentalism in all forms - the fact that it still exists after millenia of evolution in our species means it does provide some evolutionary benefit to our species "
not a chance.
refusing to adapt to new knowlege has never been, and will never be a benifit to mankind.

(Mar 22 07, 11:09)i would ask for more (or even less clothing), but hey, you said you are a simple man, i guess I am the one going to hell, i am far more greedy than you.... ha!

mrdobolina: you'd be surprised at how outspoken I'd be - with gentleness of course ;). The issue with my anonymity has to do with a desire to avoid career persecution, hatemail, etc... there are people who depend on me.
- mrdobolina0
Nah you're just a coward that doesn't stand up for what he believes in, IMO.
Otherwise there would be no need for anonymity.
- flagellum0
Nice try. ;)
I can convey information just like mimio or any other anonymous person here.

(Mar 22 07, 11:17)that's ripe.
1500 years of the divine right of kings, subjection of women and institution slavery.
all supported by the church.
as much of a meat grinder the modern world is, our secualr, technical socities have empowered individuals in a way religion never has.
and that's a fucking fact.
- lemmys_wart0
and fyi "atheists" commit homicide and rape at a far lower rate that "theists".
fact.
- flagellum0
Lemming: you couldn't spout more nonsense if you tried to.
1. Which church has supported slavery and what do you mean by "subjection" of women?
2. The "church" has embraced modern technology. What are you stuttering to communicate here? Still trying to pack people into nice segregated categories? What do you mean by "empower"?
