INSECTS!

Whatever, there's just entirely too much taboo built around sex. Abstaining until marriage doesn't make it a better marriage. The divorce rates are still the same.
Mimio
(Mar 8 07, 11:43)You're right, except that sex is still everywhere and in everything. It all depends on the generation and various other factors when it comes to how much of a taboo is it seen to be.
It's also a good thing, since it seems to be making people more aware and accepting of sexuality.

INSECTS!
Milan
(Mar 8 07, 11:53)I think we have a winner.
- gramme0
the stigma around sex wouldn't be so bad if it weren't viewed as such a bad thing?
i mean it has gotten us this far right?
who/what is religion to dictate natures course?
religion has been the worlds number one killer for centuries, i believe the bible thumpers need to check themselves not their sermons
yes, however many christians there are, can be wrong
only in humanity does man try to dictate the actions of an equal
version4
(Mar 8 07, 11:47)version4, religion itself is not responsible for atrocities. Only when people try to force their own agendas upon religion. Unfortunately, this way of twisting faith is par for the course for many people. Not for me.
Look, say what you want about the rights/wrongs of sex. I just think it works best in the context of marriage, for reasons stated before.
- gramme0
i think you owe your wife an apology
BonSeff
(Mar 8 07, 11:48)For what? For bragging about how wonderful she is?
- Jaline0
No offense, acescence, but you're more crass in your posts.
Like the idea of abstaining from sex is unthinkable or that you absolutely have to have sex with a person to know them.
Not necessarily my opinions, but that's how you sound...
- mrdobolina0
I think the deal is that you are pumping a bit too much voltage through christ.
it makes people who arent into it feel like you think you have all of the answers.
- barbtastic0
yes, but if sex is important to acescence, then it's his right to be with someone who like to fack...
- Jaline0
True...he actually comes off as having a "holier than thou" attitude compared to gramme though.
- gramme0
you're the one who belittled my opinion by calling it "utter bullshit" your experience is different than mine, that's fabulous for you, but it doesn't make my opinion any less valid- or true- in my experience. take a little of your own advice.
acescence
(Mar 8 07, 11:53)I never belittled your opinion. I don't even recall seeing you post anything in this thread about the whole 'test-drive' issue. I am simply calling a spade a spade. I'm not calling your life a fariy tale or discrediting your worth as a human being. I still think the whole test-drive notion is bullshit. That is not a personal attack against you. Maybe I should phrase it more delicately? Would that help? Ok then, I think taking your significant other for a test-drive before being able to make a commitment is a very bad idea founded upon ignorance of the inner workings of intimacy. Is that better?

i used fack so not to insult baby jesus :)
- Jaline0
gramme, it's in his first post.

Ah, thanks Jaline, I must have missed that. And thanks again for being sensible.
- version30
so uh, gramme
this religion of yours, um first just let me say "holy war" and then maybe what about the rest of the species on this planet that do not try to use the skewed reasoning of man to control one another?
notice that without such things as marriage there is no divorce.
mans ability to reason does not mean that we are reasoning correctly or for the betterment of our kind
also, how many have been killed in the name of god and how many have been killed in the name of sex?
compare churches to brothels. they are the same thing. seek enlightenment or enjoyment and pay your penance for it. the only difference is that the brothel does not complain the church exists.

mrdobolina
(Mar 8 07, 11:58)I am simply reporting what has been done through me. No way in hell do I have all the answers. I make mistakes on a daily basis. There is a subtle but strong difference between me thinking I have all answers (not true) and thinking that the Bible does have most answers, the rest to be revealed in the afterlife.
Dobs, I respect your opinion and greatly appreciate it when you choose to say lucid and genuine things. It makes discussing this stuff with you a lot more palatable.
- Jaline0
v4, you have good points, but you could cite positives and negatives about both institutions / practices.
I'm not religious, but gramme has a good point in that the people who change the scriptures to say what they want them to say are more dangerous than those who follow the Bible or other religions while also being respectful of modern day.

i vote jaline to be the "official sex thread moderator." this would apply to any and all sexually-themed threads.
- Jaline0
heh
- Jaline0
Anyway, this is all being taken way too seriously...
