Layout is nice...but, please look at re-writing your "Information/Level3" section. The first sentence is written poorly, not to mention the rest of it. No offense, just offering my opinion.

fascinating thread.
I'm a little late in the discussion for any new or more valuable critique. And I didn't see the original that caused such an uproar but I will say that this layout and the josephkosinski.com layout are so simple, that to accuse Jin of plagiarism in this case is a little harsh. Like others have said - why reinvent the wheel. This is a layout that works and certainly wasn't invented by whoever did kosinski's site. But kosinski's does feel and look better for some reason.
But having said that, and putting that issue aside, I don't think that this design is your best solution. Take what you really like from it and rework it. Or dump it and rethink the whole thing. Stick with a simple design that shows your work.
Maybe all you need to do is cut it up differently and reorganize it. I think you can do better. How about NOT using flash.

It looks great!!!! Except for the pics being dulled out at first. It's good enough to have the triangle covering them up. The way they are dulled it makes it look like it's work in progress, not available yet.

i saw this thread yesterday but i wanted to make my debut today so didn't say anything.
anyway, the versioin i saw had the exactly same animation as joseph kosinski's site and showed no effort of re-invention. i don't know if a design community should encourage this kind of things.
also, i think the client list is very misleading. did he really work for those clients or he worked on those accounts when he was at a company?

Another troll. I'm guessing you're one of the bashers with a new identity.
To answer your question, those are the clients we worked with at the Ad Agencies I work for. The earlier pieces I was junior level, and the later pieces I was the Art Director.
Look at my current site http://www.visualplane.com under the print section. Do you think I photoshopped all that? Maybe those are made up as well.

dont know if this has been posted, as i havent read all the replies, but on the thumbnails, the mouseout should ease back to original image, not skip back.
or, id prefer to see that.
looks nice.

"Another troll. I'm guessing you're one of the bashers with a new identity. "
Fuck off visualpane, you put up a site for a crit, get called on copying someone elses thumbnail transitions, change them and then call anyone that agrees they were a copy a troll.
Why did you change them if they weren't copied?

skt, having a bad day at work?
You don't think this person is a troll?

Last broadcast: Feb 26 07Now I see your lacking in logic. I didn't deny the animation was like the other site, so that's why I did change it.
Fuck YOU

See the 'don't hate me thread' you cock.

"I didn't deny the animation was like the other site, so that's why I did change it."
So why are you calling people trolls if you agree you copied it?
- iamnotyourgirl0

(Feb 26 07, 11:05)simply because everyone starts liking to sound like they are puffing their chest out by sounding like they are really telling on someone like a kid to their mommy.
thats one of the definitions of a troll.'
If the point was first brought out saying something more like "hey man that may be pretty close to so and so's layout, you may want to modify it a bit to differentiate."
and thats it.
there are too many people on this forum, which is one of the many reasons that NT has become crap among members, is because of people wanting to just immediately put someone down. So once I see that happen, I will shoot back and defend people I know, and I know they are being honest to their word.
- akoni0
holy shit my grammar sounded horrible there.

most people post their work online to get validation from others.
crit is something that they do not seek

I would say copied not influenced.
But everything has already been done anyway.

(Feb 25 07, 16:54)Was my origonal re-action to it. Hardly puffing my chest out.
What annoyed me more than the copy though was the fact he changed it without aknowledging the fact he had changed it.
A bit of "fair enough, it wasn't mine so I changed it" would have gone down far better than saying nothing but still having a go at new members for pointing out what he had done.

(Feb 26 07, 11:28)True, but you should be prepared for it all the same.

True, but you should be prepared for it all the same.
skt
(Feb 26 07, 11:35)very true.
its better to ask a peer in real life than online forum.rather someone is a credited designer or a student or not even in design world will comment from their perspective.
