Haven't updated my site in a couple of years, so here's a new mock up:
http://www.visualplane.com/vp200…
What do you guys think? I plan on adding some more work, and the porfolio will load within the flash movie after they click on the thumbnails.
Thanx

Also, I'd like to know if the scroll bar is to hard to see. Thanks

Your server stopped responding to me so I couldn't see :(
- Nairn0
what scroll bar?
I like the idea of your pulsating visualplane logo, but would like it to be a slower cycle and maybe not quite so heavy.
not sure your break rules should be gradiated and they should defintely be saved better - i think i can see compression there.
i'd really like your rollover mechanic if..
- it didn't start out darker - i think the lighten up is redundant and excessive. it also makes for quite a bleak first impression, with everything dulled.
- the empty triangle space contained useful project information, instead of just a number (presumably that is your ultimate intent?)
- I'm not sure about the wee gradient you've employed OnMuouseOver - not saying i don't like it, just that it jars with the initial clean angled cut.
I'm just being picky - looks good, man!

looks good, i would use something else besides a pixel font. flash 8 has better font support for smaller fonts.

okay, don't let PonyBoy know that this was my first comment, but in your information section. Your first and third sentence start with "I been" instead of "I have been..."
Looks great though. :)

im not too fond of the triangle deal you got going on the thumbnails, I think it would work better without. Visually doesnt really do much for me.
- VectorMasked0
looks good. :o)
I'm just not digging the glow around "visualplane". Or slow it down as someone already suggested.
Try a dark or light gray for the page BG coz black is not doing much. And more thing. This could be a very personal opinion, but I have never liked having or seeing portfolio sites with useless personal info like "I've always been an artist", "when I young I enjoyed drawing". Amateur designers tend to do it a lot, and you're not one of them. You might wanna try to come up with something a bit more professional (if that's the right word to put it)
And try aligning vertically your client list with the boxes of the portfolio section.
Good job buddy!

Thanks for the reply everyone. I slowed down the glow, took out the gradient on the thumbnails (I like it much better!), added a couple of rows of more work, and I'll edit the copy as soon as I can.
So the scroll bar is hard to see?
- mayo0
i swear i'm not being flippant, but what scroll bar?
- ********0
yea I cant find a scroll bar......
..screen shot of what we should be seeing....
- ********0
people with PCs tend to have scrolling mice, so they dont need to see the scroll bar most of the time!
( i didnt even notice it until u pointed it out)people with mac tend to get the default blue bar whatever happens(dont they?)
but.. it is a BIT camouflaged
- ********0
oh yea the rest looks cool.
but some of your images are showing compression.
- visualplane_0
Can you guys see it now?
- madirish0
are the thumbs supposed to allow the user to click for more content? or is it just the mouseOver effect until you get everything worked out?
i like the palette and grid quite a bit. nice job.
- version30
i see the same thing nairn does

Looks nice enough. Not sure on the triangles on the thumbs though. And the Level 1 2 3 etc is a little bit 2001.
Good work on creating google though. Should have made you a few quid.

Wouldn't be bad if it wasn't a rip of ...
