...from changing your site so that no-one else can see that you copied a thumbnail rollover animation almost pixel for pixel from someone else?
I prefered the copied version by the way. The new one looks rubbish.

couple of things:
1 - the thumbanil effect may look vv similar.. but i prefer yours to the 'original' (that pixel dot pattenr is a bit tacky) + your pallete is better
2 - level 1, 2, etc - unnecessry (the name of the section is enough)
3 the "visual deisgner" type looks a bit lopsided. :( because the gray over hangs "studios" a bit awkwardly + it looks like it not aligned ot the 'tight' grid u created. (maybe align it with "Visual"??)
4- the padding on the left of the grid is noticeably smaller than on the right (bring the left side in a bit more - maybe to the same x-position as the text in the client list?)
5 - the 'information' section looks a bit amateurish (as pointed out earlier) and slightly over prolonged. (although i think 'Design is Kinky" style questions are a no go too - writing in interview for yourself about yourself seems a bit too self obsessed.) (maybe not a few stats that ppl might like to know ie. Name, Education, DoB, Location, Skillset, etc)
6 - what did use for the visual plane? :p

id go back to the diagonal. for sure.. fun wht they say the rest of that guys website is shocking.. its not like u ripped his site off.. u copied a transition.. so what? its not as bad as ripping a layout, or a colour palette..

1. constructive criticism
i like it. the colors feel nice and the repitition of the triangles and images create a pleasing visual space for my eyes to wander around in. i agree that there probably should be some type of navigation along the top because there wans't anything on the page that really made me want to scroll down (the only reason i did was because you mentioned the scrollbar). it seems like you're trying to make a hybrid flash/one-page-folio by stacking the information, which i don't feel is working so well in this case. you might want to try a reverse lightbox thing where the screen darkens and the information appears on top of the portfolio. that might be nice...
speaking of the work, did you do the maxell ad? if you did, aswsome(!!!), if not, i'm not sure you should use it as a thumbnail. other people may have different opinions, but i would prefer to see your work in the thumbnails, not a representation of a company done by someone else, aside from logos of course (again, if you actually did do it, then display it more prominently ;)
2. advice
you asked for people's thoughts on the layout. if someone thinks it's too close to another site and they see it as a rip, then that's valuable information. if a couple of people here thought it was too close, then chances are other people might as well. you can either choose to disregard that valuable feedback, or accept that some people are going to see it that way and change the design enough so that other people really feel that the design is yours.
btw, i don't buy the one-page folio analogy. i'm sure that someone did rip that off of the first person who did it, but after the ###th time it really became a style. personally, i kind of see the one-page approach as a sort of anti-design where people focus more on the work and not on the site... which i can completely appreciate (i've decided not to go that route whch is why my site isn't done yet :/ ). granted people have made some that are designed really well, but the one-page folios that stand out are the ones with amazimg work in them.

subversve, thanks for the constructive criticism. Your point is well taken. I did work on the maxell ads and all of the brands in my client list with a great team. We did a lot of print ads, billboards, outdoor media, televison commercials, and I also did the flash work on the previous maxell website.
