Dynamic High-Res Zoom
http://scene7.com/demos/retail/z…
Does anyone know how this is done? I know how to do a regular image zoom, but this one loads parts of the image as you drag around...
Thanks for the help.

yes. there is a fla floating out there that basically chops the image into sectors and loads the hi-res section when needed.
let me see if i can find it...

thanks.

this is what i was thinking:
http://www.zoomify.com/flash.htm…i guess it's $129 though :\
you can try the demo, but not sure if that will work for you.

I used Scene7 for my last job, and the way they do it is with a proprietary backend engine.
The way it works, is you upload a high res .psd file and the scene7 engine parses out all the layers and high res stuff so you can specify all sorts of attributes like crop, size, color, tint, masks, zoom etc.
It's really powerful: http://www.scene7.com/solutions/…

It's only one other larger image in that example. I don't see why you couldn't do some math and just load in the hi res image in the correct position after zooming in.

We were looking into scene7 but I guess it costs 10k...that's a little much for us.

My thoughtz exactly...... and 10K for that zoom engine?!!!!
give me a break!!! you can build something in flash (or have someone build it in flash) for a lot less than 10k... and it will be custom to what you want.

CyBrainactually using that link i posted and another thing (forget what it's c alled) it actually cuts the image up into hundreds of seperate jpgs that it loads only when needed. loading in only a low res and a high res would still be a huge file size considering how much the image has to be zoomed in...if that makes any sense.

I've done the small/large image zoom before....That's not what were looking for.

someday i hope to have some flash skills.
is zoomify more solid than using flashpaper lvl_13? or anyone else?
- dbloc0
Flashpaper is different. That's more for text or pdfs...Zoomify is for images.
