what salisae said, and they're seriously trying to claim the stem is the L? weeeak.

I just got a brief two days ago from a very well-off client who's asking us to do essentially a juvenile execution on a shallow identity concept so that their online product rollout doesn't seem too corporate.
Google stays sloppy 10 years after their genuinely sloppy beginnings to hide their massive economic success, and then the rest of the world starts asking their design agencies to do the same for their brands.
Silly.

I still can't believe they replied. Nice.

I think we should get Jude Law's opinion on all this ;)

such cat shit. google is not a high concept brand. they've got a bevel and dropshadow for christ sakes.
the designer is badly in need of a typography class if they even slightly believe their own excuse.
in their history .. have they admitted to a mistake?

Yep, the "designer" there thought he was bloody smart with his "look mum! I can make the "L" be the Stem! Woohooo I'm a genius! I work at Googe!"
-- stick to the C++, your Logo is too vile to begin with for you to be playing "dress up"...

got this email back today:
"Thank you for your feedback about our logo. As you may know, from time to
time we modify the Google logo in honor of different holidays. In
celebration of Valentine's Day, our logo shows a chocolate covered
strawberry. The chocolate forms the letter "G" and the stem of the
strawberry forms the letter "L."We appreciate your taking the time to contact us about our Valentine's Day
doodle, and we'll keep your feedback in mind for the future.Regards,
The Google Team"1) I can't believe they actually replied.
2) The stem forms the letter l. Does it? really?? I'm not so sure. They should just admit that it either sucks or they messed up.

Oh man, my boss made a mistake of showing me a newspaper article about Google’s offices that they have in Pittsburgh, hahaha.
They are like that everywhere (lavish, and without me being the asshole at work who makes fun of everyone while doing actually no work).
- Point50
damn, and they go on and basically admit that they fucked up (with some bullshit poetic crap), yet don't want to do anything drastic, like, oh, correct it? Stupid. I like Google, but I hope someone is getting jumped in the that lavish cafeteria of theirs right now.

wow i've been on googe like 20 times today and had yet to notice that.
their branding has worked its way into my subconscious, or something like that.

That’s the second most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
The first being this plastic bag I saw being whisked aimlessly, but with purpose, around in the air by the wind.

Beautiful, just beautiful.

you know, I noticed that last night, but oddly enough, I just didn't care.
