i walked the long way around the stairs this morning because i wanted to avoid getting into a conversation with the columbian cleaner at work.
she's lovely this old lady, and i've sort of become friends with her but now whenever she sees me she turns off the vacuum cleaner and starts telling me all her problems. her mother has just died and every day she cries. she's just survived cancer but she feels very run down and she's not sure they got it all. her brother is losing weight and her mother came to her in a dream and told her that soon he would be joining her.
i honestly do care but i've started to dread the sound of the vacuum cleaner, the emotional drainpipe gasping for air.
avoiding a kind old lady just because she wants to talk to you. if that's not evil i'm not sure what is.

(Feb 6 07, 08:00)this made me lol, b/c I do that sometimes too.
yes, I tend to walk in on people crying in bathrooms and other random places often. I'm not that good with being emotionally supportive.

hmmm, to be honest last time I did something like that, I found a woman crying in the street (I was on my way to a party), she started talking to me and asked for a busfare, then started showing me the cuts on her arms and stuff and wanted to talk about it, I plugged the iPod back in, gave her a pound and fucked off to get trashed.
wonder if she got home

If it makes you feel better, I have no interest in any communication with a stranger when I am upset in public. That is a moment for a lone time.
I don't think that's a guy thing either, so don't feel too bad for those sorry bastards. ;)

okay but kelpie you live in glasgow. if you started talking to battered women in the street you'd never get from a to b, buddy.

There was a girl in Hackney whos entire patter was greeting in the street and telling you how her boyfriend had kicked her out and she didn't know what to do. She was good at it too. I fell for it the first time.

yeah, I used to get sucked in by that kind of thing all the time, thank god I'm a jaded old hack these days, its less expensive

ha. the first time i fell for it i was walking down the street with you.
you, of course, had heard it all a million times before and started shouting at her "aye, sure, i'm sick of your patter! you give me this same banter everytime i see you."
or something like that. man, i thought for sure you were a sociopath then.
remember that?
