it looks like a girl developed it, no offense, maybe you were going for that.
you might want to use some more modern stylish fonties.

o also
png do not display correct colors per hex values
so if have a black edged alpha image on top of hex valued html, the blacks would not match
also, transparent gif has been used to reduce load and file size, png takes up higher file size, not to be used unless it is really needed. everything can easily solved with using proper gifs and jpgs along with html

with the .png fix, it is, there are more problems with img padding and css than there are png problems
the png needs more attention so that ie will take its head out of its ass before it goes the way of outlook

I've had no formal training, but I'm trying to learn.. I'm not charging much for this work..

I dont minds the colors but i think the problem is that since the lack of content the typography stand out. Drop the rosewood for real. Since they are a stylist why not take some design cues from the mags that he/she worked on. Just a thought I think you could make it really rad if did that it would not onl conceptually make more sense. But reinforce their profession.
Also use the newer lightbox V.2 and do a cool loading animated gif.
