in your estimation, alex, how off is it?
- mpfree0
please no real names, thanks for respecting that.
I just don't buy into the 6,000 year and 1.7 Billion claim in that arena. I think it's less. There was a study on that not long ago. Can't recall the name of it.
The Vishnu Complex is what I have a hard time believing. There are no trackable fossil life in those type of rocks. The rest of that there is plenty and it helps people infer about the paleoenvironment and allows us to correlate fossils from that region to other regions in the world.

so would you say closer to millions of years or closer to hundreds of years.
- mpfree0
yeah along those lines or at least hundreds of thousands of years. tough call, right?
- mrdobolina0
not really. if the word of the bible says the earth is 6,000 years old and can't be tested and there are actual tests to gauge the millions of years using the scientific method, which do I believe?
- mpfree0
That's just it. neither.
Arbitrary dates man.
Geologist G.W. Wetherill admits “the two principal problems have been the uncertainties in the radioactive decay constants of potassium and in the ability of minerals to retain the argon produced by this decay.”
Radiocarbon, potassium-argon, and the even less-proven uranium and radio-calcium methods depend too much on nonfluctuating radioactive conditions through time. Radioactive conditions have fluctuated through time.

Although I copied and pasted that text from a Christian-based website, the fact is, that's the truth about radioactivity.
They are using these dating methods to date the Vishnu Complex.
Therefore, their process is flawed

At the very same time, I'm not buying into the 6,000 year claim as well. That's even less analysis.

Persian history is 7,000 years old. Im doubting them fools knew to write things down, right out of the box.

it's pretty obvious that the grand canyon is a left-wing conspiracy. It's actually just an elaborate optical illusion using high tech mirrors to give the illusion of being ancient. It's somewhat similar to all the dinosaur bones that left-wing conspiracists have planted worldwide to give the illusion of life on earth before mankind.

It's no wonder fundamentalist Christians have a problem with dating...
Have you seen them ?!

The depths that people will go thru to validate their superstitions is fucking amazing.

Once upon a time Paul Bunyan, the lumberjack, and Babe the blue ox, went to the Southwest to plow where some trees of Paul’s used to grow.
The next morning they went to where the trees grew. Paul hooked Babe up to the plow. Babe took off so quietly and was so quick that he was like a bolt of lightning. Before Paul even knew it Babe was gone. Paul turned around and there, directly behind him was a very deep hole. He said, “Hey, I can make something out of this.” “I can make it the Grand Canyon.” “Well you know I have such a wonderful hole here that I just need to add water.” “But what if I had the Colorado River run through the Grand Canyon.” Paul thought and thought and came up with an idea. “I know, he said. “I a-a-a-a-choooo” Paul sneezed. When he opened his eyes there was hole from sneezing. “Aha this can be my Colorado River. All I have to do is add a little water and then it will be good as new. That’s how Babe and Paul made the Grand Canyan and the Colorado River.

Don't believe everything you hear on the internet guys.

(Dec 29 06, 10:26)except this time, maybe you should believe it because even the fundies believe it.

The dating mechanisms used to date the Grand Canyons are flawed. Plain and simple.
There's not much more to say about it than that regardless of one's political or religious convictions.
- mrdobolina0
but the bible is the infallible word of god.
