What is she using to loop?
- HelixDnB0
A lot of keyboards/synths (Yamaha which she had, Korg, etc) have built in recording and looping capablities. I think I may have seen abelton or what looked like Abelton Live in the background on 1 of her computers but don't quote me on that. It's more than likely the yamaha's built in "sequencer".

she also has a vocoder running on her mic, you just can't hear it.
she's running her vocals through a processor and requencing them
be perfectly honest with you. it looks like she pushed two buttons. one to start the song and one to stop it

From what I see, it looks like shes using the Electrix rackmount FX... either one of these will do it. They stopped making them for a while and it seems theyre back.

I think its the second one due to the input jack shes running on the left side of the FX.

I dig Ableton Live!'s capabilities, but have never, ever liked its interface.
Good German software though

Thanks. Can anyone else comment on Ableton?

(Dec 26 06, 11:05)woaah..
to me it's the best interface ever made..the collapsable tip window at the bottom, the built in tutorials, with slideshow, the search files tool, the drag n drop, the way you zoom in and out of the main timeline, and I can go for hours..
I think a lot of the pro software solutions could learn A LOT from ableton interfase and that goes also for video editing software like avid or fcp
that's just me though...

(Dec 26 06, 11:40)I started using it instead or logic / cubase because I sold most of my hardware, I dont need a lot of the stuff from the big guys, and it's a lot cheaper, I have to say ableton rocks inside out, support, plug ins, stability, ease of use, etc.
There is really not much else to say, words don't mean much when it comes to this kind of thing, the best you can do is download a demo and try it out.
You may love it or just plain hate it.hows that?
:)

ableton Live is what it sounds like and more...it's very performance orientated and inprovisational and a blast to use, can also be amazing in the studio

I dunno, Abelton's good mainly if you're going to be playing out or doing Live PA type work (aka working with the audio on the fly instead of straight DJ'ing). For Production I'm not a fan whatsoever of it. Sure it's got great possibilities in the live realm (hence the Abelton *LIVE* part of the name) but as far as a personal perference goes, I'll be sticking with Logic for production.
I only have a Midi KB and I'm getting a Virus KC this or next week, and I'm nowhere near the point of being able to have an entire live show (only have 6-8 songs in different stages of "finished") but we'll see once I start working more on a project I've started recently.
It's good for what it is though, but due to personal pereference, no thanks.

that is a misconception, I only use live for studio work, never played live with it.
and I come from logic, (since the days of emagic).
The name might be live, cause that how it's started, but from version 3 up, it was also developed for studio, we are now on version 6.I respect personal preference cause I totally understand that, just correcting the info, live works wonders for production, I actually lay tracks a lot faster than on logic, by using the session mode first then recording to arrange mode, it takes a bit of time to get used to it coming from "pro" apps, but works perfectly fine.

Ableton Live! was built for live performances, just as its name suggests.

that explains it better :)

Ableton Live! just does what Propellerheads ReCycle! has done for the longest time. It enables you to pitch shift and tempo-sync your tracks.
You can do the same thing by exporting out of ReCycle! and importing into a variety of sequencers. Reason, Cubase, etc.
Maybe it does allow for more control when performing live, but for studio production, I'd advise against it.

well, it does that, you are correct..
but that is probalby 2% of what it does..looks like you haven't used live in years mang..
seriously, just look at the videos on the website, you dont even need to read:http://www.ableton.com/pages/liv…
