thanks kirshar
I just feel that we as a great nation failed to show the world how we care for our own
how are we suppose to help the people of Iraq when we can barely help ourselves
with the money & resources we have there has to be a better way to help people in case of a national emergency
something like Katrina can happen anywhere
how we will we be helped then?

new theory, based on nature's wrath:
natural selection and/or survival of the fittest
people dying and suffering of a natural catastrophe isn't anyone else's fault.
where and will the finger pointing ever end?
- Ramanisky20
not pointing fingers
just saying wheres the love?

Looks like most of us share the same viewpoints on the Hurricane and the ensuing blame game.
Glad to see it.

a real meeting of the minds.

if you pay your govt money is it they not responsible in helping you out in a time of need
such as when a cat 4 hurricane drowns your entire city
all the red tape
the thing that really upset me was when Wendell Pierce who plays Bunk on the Wire talks about how his dad payed home insurance for decades and was given nothing because apparantly the insurance company said he did'nt have flood coverage or something
where is the money he's been paying for years gone too
why cant he and everybody else who has paid insurance be helped???
- Kirshar0
thats the big court battle going on right now down on the coast in Mississippi, the insurance companies aren't paying because evidently hurricane insurance doesn't cover flooding, I believe.
Which is why many of the people haven't been able to rebuild, no money.

It's a damn shame.
It's the classic tale of which ruined my house first, the wind or the floodwater?
Does it really matter? Their homes are gone and the ins companies refuse to pay. It's deplorable.

(Dec 20 06, 08:20)Those houses aren't ruined - it's an act of intelligent design.

America needs Dutch engineers.
But I guess I'll have to settle for Walmart Supercenters and a Chinese blue water navy...
A decline in engineering has always mirriored a broader decline of a civilization....
And America is a civilization in decline (for now anyway).

"I loved James Brown. *crying* Now to pay tribute I'm going to do a movie about him and I hope it makes me a few million." - Spike Lee

It has nothing to do with design or engineers it has to do with Capitalism. Investment would swarm to those areas of the city if our country could consitently care for things without large monetary return. There was a prototype for managing water in the New Orleans, federal support was denied for years. You gamble you lose.
