thanks mpfree. i just read Twain's "Huckleberry" and "Father Thomas" (didn't make much of him from that), but i've lately been gathering that he was a major political writer too - and that somehow he speaks for a certain conscience that is now widespread. That is important and brings him forth. I'll dig that yonder.

I for one can stand on my own two feet and tell you I have visited over 30 countries. And yes, the world is all one big clusterfuck full of hypocrites and haters.

(Dec 18 06, 12:18)I guess he did write a bit on politics as well, but he spent most of his time in France I believe. (don't quote me on that)
Like you said. Did the Romans, Persians, etc. think anything of anyone outside of their own lands?
How about the British Empire? They treated adult Africans as "their children".
Or better yet, King Leopold (http://www.moreorless.au.com/ki... revered in Belgium and The Nederlands and despised in Congo. Murderer of five to 15 million Congolese. Nice little site BTW.

(Dec 18 06, 12:18)I recommend "Roughing it", his docummentary and commentary on Nevada and California in times of gold and silver rush.. His observations on mormons (which I linked in respective thread) are priceless.

haha thanks, I'll check that out. Twain is fun.
You can tell by his pictures he was a bit out there.
