are you serious?
is their inflation that bad?
that dude couldn't run Deleware right, let alone a country.

that's not the point. the problem is if Iran sells ALL his dollars at current exchange tax.

I read somewhere that Russia was planning the same, sometime soon, though dismissed it as it was linked off'a some paranoid news site.
Time to invest in gold and land, people.

Saddam threatened to do it too. that's my point.
But Nairn is right, as usual.
* goes out to buy land.

I wonder if a truckload of their money could buy a PS3?

a few facts:
the euro is mighty expensive.
the dollar is cheaper.

Gholamhossein Elham referiu-se implicitamente às dificuldades dos organismos iranianos para concluírem contratos no estrangeiro por causa das pressões norte-americanas sobre os bancos, com o objectivo de impedir a realização de negócios com clientes daquele país.

i totally see it now, yes.

American anti-Iranian sentiment annoys the fuck out of me - I can appreciate opposition to religious fundamentalism, but when it comes to the Iranian people themselves, tarring them all with the same brush is hypocritical and retarded.
it was the UK and US that precipitated revolutionary zeal in Iran - it was our meddling that created injustices against their people, that focused money and power in the upper echelons of their society, thereby undermining it and, in short, gettting us into the mess we're in today.
So, could a truckload of their money buy a ps3? Who gives a fuck - they were civilised many hundreds of years before we were and the only reason we're rolling in cash at the moment (and therefore able to spunk resources on PS3s) is because we gazzumped the Middle East's oil to pay for a nigh-on unstoppable war & political machine which is still fucking up the people there today - after nearly a hundred fucking years.

i guess it's just to piss off the US.
if countries start selling their dollars all over the place how will the US pay them the face-value without breaking their treasury apart?

One of the stated economic objectives, and perhaps the primary objective, when setting up the euro was to turn it into a reserve currency to challenge the dollar so that Europe too could get something for nothing.
So far only one OPEC country has dared switch to the euro: Iraq, in November 2000. There is little doubt that this was a deliberate attempt by Saddam to strike back at the US, but in economic terms it has also turned out to have been a huge success: at the time of Iraq's conversion the euro was worth around 83 US cents but it is now worth over $1.05. There may however be other consequences to this decision.
One other OPEC country has been talking publicly about possible conversion to the euro since 1999: Iran.

(Dec 18 06, 07:47)nope. Saddam did it. Hence, why we took his ass out of commission. well, one of the reasons.

that part reads that the decision was made because north-american banks were creating difficulties to establish foreign contracts (in america) and injuring iranian economy.
this doesn't look good.

it is strange i cant find anything about this in Dutch news.
What i did find is that in the election for the Council of Experts (whatever that may be) the Iranian people voted in majority for the current president's opponents.
Which is good news and goes to show it is not Iran who is to blame but the cunts who control it.
- ********0
i just don't see any reference to a major news agency, which is odd since that newspaper is very strict about it. maybe a rookie is around reading faxes and getting it out too soon.
