check out
http://www.streetartblows.com/st…haha, anti-hype,
" We have to start asking questions and stop accepting everything on the walls as good. We need to ask ourselves why it is important that this is outdoors? Would this be any good if it weren’t? Why does it matter that this is done where and how it was? How is this new and, most importantly, why should I care?"

its not about who in the general public cares about it..i do graffiti for other writers...not for the everyday people

they do it, but only to communicate a message, not just for the sake of tagging:

What an annoying thread topic...

And here I thought the whole "urban" trend died...

I used to :) but i dont anymore :(
after i started working as a designer I lost touch with it, which really sucks because that used to be my life! I still have 2 boxes of black books, pics, caps, mags and all sorts of other stuff. I agree that its a great tool for playing with color and typography.tagging and graff are not the same thing my friend and yes i agree that graff got trendy (and weak)
but i didn't have to worry about shit like that when i did it, we just did it because we liked it.anyway i like where street art is now, i hope to some day be a part of it again.

Great stuff blackspade! I am a huge fan of your graphic work too.
Did you make your own wheat paste for that?I don't see how this is an annoying thread topic either. Oh is it trendy? Well so is graphic design, look how many shitty websites you see everyday. Look how many 18 year olds are enrolled to be a graphic designer at your school. It all goes hand in hand, I don't think we should just dismiss it.
It takes skill to do it good and some people are making a name from their talent. All the power to them.

Frost... dude those toro heads are MONEY. Love the flickr albums. Good shit man.
- GT_10
Because its popular that makes it respectable? Uh, no Josh.
- GT_10
I can understand why youd defend it though. Most of your own work is just the same sort of decorating.

No. My response was in reply to your "urban trends" statement. An analogy... there's a lot of bad but that doesn't mean we should disregard the good does it?
and GT please... of course someone like you would make hack judgments on my work.
I could see that a mile away.
