meh... poor?
That's equity, silly!
You've invested and you don't even know it! :)
Now, take care of it... use it as collateral when necessary etc... pay off other shit... lower rates...
... man... being a home-owner is AWESOME. :)
Congrats!!!!

congrats, bought mine a month ago, only 29 years and 11 months to go!

it will be your best investment ever.
i bought my first house in 1999. sold it in 2004 for a xxx,xxx profit.
just refinanced my second home and cashed out the equity and paid off 6 credit cards with high interest rates. (3 mine 3 the wifes)
it seems like a huge weight on your shoulders but treat the house well, put a bit of fine touches here and there and in a couple years you'll have made some great money.
congrats!

Property is a good investment
I bought my apartment 18 months ago and it's worth more than twice the value I paid for it now.
Sure you are shit poor to begin with, but once you get on top again, it really starts to pay off with tax benefits etc.
Congrats!

say goodbye to geeky tech toys, say hello to powertools.

I bought my first house last year when I was 20. It's small, a little over 1000 square feet, but that doesn't matter because I'm not wasting money on rent.
- eb60
exactly the reason for my purchase.

last weekend I put a new patio(wood and glass) door in the back, hell yes to powertools, and my Japanese finish saw.

me love powertools longtime

damn, i can't even afford to buy an apartment. anything decent is going for at least 550k. the downpayment itself will be 100k.
oh well, congrats to non-city house owners.

grats on buying that house. I'm 32 and broke and have been paying rent for years.
I live in Vegas where the market was the hottest shit around, now, it has cooled off considerably but the expensive prices are here to stay. 6 years ago, a condo that I was thinking about buying for $150k (but didn't cuz it was out of my price range at the time) is now worth almost $400k. I'll never own a house out here unless I start making about $100k, but honestly I'm not sweatin it too bad. I'll just work well into my 70's :|

welcome to the club.
I bought mine about a year ago but since I'm in Cali, I bought it in NY where I grew up, moved my parents in, now they pay rent equal to the mortgage and take care of the house. Its win win, they have a house, I have equity.

very nice.
the ceiling in the master bedroom is dope. you could do some really nice graduated tones in paint on the different levels to really make it look crazy. add some ambient lighting and you and that girl are making babies.
