"Fight the war, but don't anger the other side because then they'll be mad."
That's what I just heard.

balance you heard that because you're sticking your fingers in your ears going LALALAAAAALLALAAA
what i said was they should lock him up forever because killing him just strengthens his followers' resolve.
righto, it's been thrilling but i gotta finish this video. laters!

If this is a war, I really don't see why Billy Joe GI who found Saddam didn't just put a bullet in his head and get it over with.
'We' were always going to find him guilty. 'We' were always going to go through these judicial theatricals, naively assuming that, somehow, our enlightened Western mores would maintain the unity of the fractured Iraqis.
Rather, all we have done is eke out an already destructive situation, keep Saddam ever present in the collective consciousness, empowering his old supporters and giving carte blanche for every other ascendant powermongers to wreak havoc to effect their own flavour of change.
If this is war, we should have just cut off the head. Brutal and amoral, maybe - but that is war.
If he is to be hanged now, so be it - but let's just get it done, stop shouting about it and never bloody celebrate it - we're not fucking medieval.

(Nov 5 06, 05:47)it's called diplomacy and moderation. not typically GOP, but you know, such thing exists..

"democants" have that view and it just doesn't make any sense. You want to come off like you're hard on terror but you don't want to anger the terrorists. Good luck with that.

(Nov 5 06, 05:52)Right and that's proved to work for Europe...I mean... uh... France on many occassions... oh wait...

witt, i do not think the Geneva Convention would allow a prisoner to be exposed to Comic Sans for more then 72 hours straight.
there are limits to torture, you know.

(Nov 5 06, 05:54)in fact it did. many times.
in fact we have been put on strategic locations within afghanistan because the americans admitted the dutch have a more delicate way of dealing with locals whilst still eliminating the taliban. as we do. you should know. or read up, son.

can a monster like him learn mercy? he asked to be shot.

Narin is it that we can round up America but not France now? Has that what its come to? Only one view? Hmm

you know. i am personally all for execution. and yes, perhaps a bullet in the head in the heat of the war would have been better. certainly less exhibitionistic as hanging. chances are that the symbolism of a conscious execution like this will have the same effect as the cross did for jesus. to some at least.

Balance, should we leave the US out of this?
Maybe Saddam should have been heard for the hundreds of other crimes? could be easing the pain for the relatives of victims..
oh wait, no! we just stick to a few incidents and hang him for that!
WHY?
Because it is ELEEEECTION TIME!! [insert krusty klown here]
- Nairn0
Because, when discussing wars in Iraq, the Americans are the main protagonists?
You'll notice in my previous posts I refer to 'we' - the UK and the US.
When arguing about/with the French, I don't pull the American card out of my ass.

"in fact we have been put on strategic locations within afghanistan because the americans admitted the dutch have a more delicate way of dealing with locals whilst still eliminating the taliban."
So then you now think that this tactic works in all conditions or do you see every situation as unique?
- Balance0
Narin so you think France has NOTHING to do with the current state of affairs? You're on a cloud man.
- ********0
i see every situation as unique.
the americans are best in the most aggressive situations.
important to admit your strengths and weakness..
- Nairn0
Stop veering, Blalance - you were the one who brought France in out of context. Within the frame of Saddam's execution - yes, I think France has pretty much fuck all to do with the matter.
- lemmys_wart0
lol @ france as the worst right wing scapegoat ever...
are you lemmings even trying anymore?
...and saddam should be stoned to death by elderly shia women.
...casue that's how they iran backed iraqi goverment is gonna treat the sunni.
and they better get used to it.
- mrdobolina0
what will saddam's execution accomplish? Is he still killing his people from behind bars? I am all for execution if it would do something, but the death penalty is done only for some sort of midevil retribution. It serves no other purpose than "he gets what he deserves".
