Thed marketing secretary at my job asked my boss for Photoshop to include "little cute attachments" to emails because she doesn't like Word templates and icons! Classic!

so i am wasting my time?
i guess you just came out the womb a brilliant designer eh?
since when are you the expert, official, master of all that is design?

i dont like saying that im a designer... usually they come across like some kinda egotistical person who thinks is to smart or something... designers are very arrogant and all the other good stuff that comes with that term

forwhatever, what are you talking about?
i am not accusing you or claiming such things...
i am saying..that is what people say who think design is just playing in photoshop and not legit craft that can be learned.i dont even consider myself a designer at all, i am merely a student.

i agree that simply being a master of photoshop isnt enough, there should be some knowledge backing the skill, but really ,
whats the point of all this?

the field is definitely oversaturated, but its nothing new... been like that for at least 10 years.
i remember all my college profs bitching and moaning about pagemaker "desktop publishers"...
they were the 90's version of today's photoshop "hacks".

It's like that with most any profession, I would assume. I wouldn't doubt that a professional landscaper would roll their eyes if they saw my front yard that I did myself.
Just know that the people who do realize that design is a professional trade will be the ones who pay for the work. It seems to go in cycles: you have great designers who inspire non-designers to try and be creative (which is not a bad thing). Their abilities can only go so far though and when the market is saturated with mediocrity is when great designs like Target's marketing or Apple's, gets noticed and once again "professional" designers are again highly sought after. I have my own biases against scrapbookers, but hey, it's that steady fuel of loathing that makes me happy.

my honest thoughts are its best to concentrate on myself (yourself) and move past that shitty part of design. Act like the designer that you wanted to be treated like.
Good luck with your studies.
