If mrdobolina would do his history homework, he's realize that this country was built upon, not only theistic, but also blatant Biblical principles and many of the founding fathers were ministers and worship ministers.

Discipler, I think MrD is talking about your vehement defense of the pro-life agenda as well as the intelligent design, anti-homosexuality/gay marriage etc. issues putting you inline with mainstream Christian politcal movements in the US. Basically the idea of legislating Christian ideologies.

this thread smells vehemently like poop.
where's my scooper?
- Mimio0
This country was founded by more deists than Christians. Besides calling something a "Christian principle" when that principle existed long before Christianity is a little revisionist in itself.

Considering I am 38 I just realized I must have power over space and time as well!! Woo-hoo!!

Mimio: I don't equate defending the right of the unborn to live, the "pro-life agenda". That verbage seems to be a cleverly wrought attempt at getting around the fact that the human zygote possesses all of the genetic information of an adult human. Regarding Gay Marriage, I simply think that the government should remain as it has been on this issue since it's the government's inception. Call them Christian ideologies, but many non-Christians hold to these principles.

Flagellum, to be fair, most of those founders were Deists and wouldn't subscribe to the brand and message of Brand Evangelical Christianity as preached today.

Mimio......do you not want people both to vote and live by what their conscience tells them?
Telling someone to leave their religion out of their politics is like telling someone to use the toilet w/out taking their pants down...
... meaning: it's a part of the process.
Those w/religion live their lives via a set of morals/rules etc that they feel are 'right'. Their feelings may not be 'right' from the perspective of those w/out religion in their lives (they probably even may same 'loony' in the minds of those who don't have religion in their lives)
...but who are 'you' to tell them NOT to vote their conscience or fight for what their conscience tells them is right?
Just because a man's principals are religiously based does NOT mean he has no right to hold true them when it comes to politics... because those religiously based principals ARE his/her politics.

There were Deists, but there was a substantial amount of protestant ministers.

With regard to Intelligent Design, this is simply a matter of following the evidence. You don't have to be a Christian, or even a theist, to see that the digital code at the molecular foundation of life, demands intelligent causation.
So, no right-wing agenda there.
- k0na_an0k0
you're 38? well i'll be...
- TheBlueOne0
Flagellum my point is that the christianism as practiced by the founders was of a different flavor and approach than that by the mega-church, creationism theme park variety.
And specifically of the most influential founders - Jefferson, Franklin, Paine were Diests...
This whol e"America is a CHristian nation" is the revision..
- Mimio0
Right, it's just a coincidence that you yourself are an outspoken religious believer and also a intelligent design proponent. I think you're being intentionally deceptive with your apologetics.

How do you get a nun pregnant?
Dress her up as an altar boy.
