meth and gay hookers!

I would disagree. Too much exposed greed, deception, racism, and hypocrisy over the years to not be skeptical. Many of the loudest voices amoung Christian leadership in America ultimately have some sort of scandal attached to them. Jimmy Swaggert, Jesse Jackson, Peter Popoff, Benny Hinn, Oral Roberts, etc etc. it's basically a cliche at this point.

how many members are there on newstoday? say 500,000?!? (for numbers sake)
i dislike say 5 of them. ya know, think 5 of them a complete assholes.
does that make the rest of newstoday's members the same? does that make newstoday a bad thing?
i think not.
what's the saying about a few bad apples?
don't answer. that was rhetorical.
- Mimio0
We're not talking about 5 members we're talking about leaders being involved in scandals.

K0na, of the many fallacies committed daily here at NT, this is probably the most frequent:

i'm just making a simple comparison of the 'few bad apples' issue
nevermind. carry on

George Carlin once said, and I tend to agree, that this is another one of those amusing reminders that the system is slowing breaking down.

Televangelists are corrupt, case closed.

"Too much" "Many", etc... Mimio, you employ too many nebulous and relative terms. You need to look at context. Again, there are millions of churches. And even pastors fall - they are sinful humans. And then there are the corrupt ones who have fallen away from the faith.
As for the "loudest voices", you would do well to realize that the majority of Christians in this nation do not ascribe to the Benny Hinn's, Oral Roberts, etc... They dismiss them. And 95% of those you named are extreme Charismatic in their doctrine.

why don't true christians call these fakers out, flagellum?
- flagellum0
I agree that televangelists are corrupt more often than not.
- flagellum0
They do, mrdobolina.
- mrdobolina0
I have never seen any of it.

n 2005, Time magazine put Haggard on its list of the 25 most influential evangelical leaders, noting his participation in a weekly conference call with White House staffers and other religious leaders.
The National Association of Evangelicals is an umbrella group for more than 45,000 churches and some 30 million members across the country.

mrdobolina: More gross generalizations.
And it's probably because you only look at your leftist special interest sites.
- flagellum0
So, what does that mean Mimio?
Is this your reasoning: An prominent evangelical falls, like other prominent evangicals, therefore all evangicals are wrong and corrupt.
If so, see my fallacies posted above.
